  1. A recent article in American Antiquity touches on this. It's worth the read. The dataset is a couple years old, and it doesn't take into account size of the graduating class. It does looks at raw numbers for what jobs in the US got filled, and which universities supplied those graduates. Their "Tier 1 and Tier 2" are 20 universities that accounted for 56% of job placements over 20 years. (Thinking I got those numbers correct, doing this quickly. Sorry if I'm off.) 2. Only OSU left, for me. I applied to 3 programs, and now that feels really light after seeing how many apps everyone else seems to have put in. Too late now, but best of luck to everyone else still waiting to hear back.
  3. Thanks for the info. Glad to hear it's not over and done, yet. I did my undergrad at PSU and we're set up the same way. We had one grad student in my time here who got their BS with the dept, went away for a masters, then came back. Everyone else was from other universities. It's a good idea to get other points of view, but it's always a bummer when you really like the department.
  4. Anyone have an idea what's happening with OSU? There were two acceptances listed on the results page, at the end of January, and nothing else since.
  5. I got an email at 6pm, yesterday, so keep your eyes open. UGA got back to me with an acceptance to the program, but I got waitlisted for a TA position. Mixed feelings on that, but overall better than not having heard much before.
  6. Thanks for the heads up; waiting to hear from them. How'd you find out?
  7. I applied for archaeology, to work with people in the CSFA. Good luck!
  8. Texas A&M posted their decision on their website, if anyone else was waiting. First response and it's a rejection, so definitely stings.
  9. @Indiana_Bones Congrats! TAMU was one of the placed I applied to work with someone in their CSFA. I see you have bioarch listed as your focus. Did you apply to the archaeology or bio anth program? Either way, I'll keep hoping for something this week. The department looks awesome, way to go!
  10. @Archaeodan Congrats! I did my undergrad at PSU and currently work there. The anth faculty are fantastic and the new cohorts always seem really tight. The other grad students are willing to lend a hand and give advice, so I recommend getting to know everyone.
  11. I only did 3 places as well, and overlap with you on Texas A&M and UGA; my final was OSU. Still waiting to hear something from any of them. Good luck!
