Soooo I'm officially going to Pitt after not getting enough $$ from Columbia. Anyone else committed???

She didn't like her placement, which can happen literally anywhere, but she also felt that Columbia isn't the big "social justice" institute it poses itself as. Many professors gloss over systemic issues and only teach it because they're required to, a lot of students are ignorant to systemic issues, which might just be a her problem bc she is a big activist, but she feels like she has to educate a lot of her peers on privilege and structural/institutional inequalities.

Yeah, my friend who goes there now also got 18k and lobbied for now and they denied her :/ she's there rn so she initially thought it was worth it but she's ending her first year and she's not too sure the debt was worth it anymore

Yeah, I got accepted February 15th and I fount out about FA about a week ago. I posted this above, but just an update: They gave me 18 grand, and after doing the math out it looks like after taking out loans for school and rent I'll graduate with $102,000 in debt which is lol yikes so Columbia does not seem to be in my cards. (The $102k figure includes my current $19k from undergrad)

They said "two to three weeks," and I got it about five days ago. I'm really close! They gave me 4k a semester and Columbia is the only other contender but 1) they haven't told me about FA yet and 2) they'd have to give me like 26k for it to be comparable.

I called Columbia and asked for an extension to make a decision bc I haven't heard back about FA yet. Pittsburgh gave me a pretty good scholarship for their price so at this point I'm feeling v exasperated w Columbia. I have a friend there who has told me that she wishes she would've gone to Hunter and paid 7k for what probably would've been just as good of an education so that's not helping my mood @ Columbia

I applied November 21st! Thank you I am really feeling the pressure from my family to make a financially savvy decision and my gut is saying that it won't be Columbia :/

I applied in early November and heard back (acceptance) on Wednesday! I'm really excited but I'm really unsure about my decision because I don't want to drown myself in debt :/ Waiting to hear about aid, but good luck to everyone!!!

Hey all! I got my acceptance January 4th, waiting to hear from Columbia but I'm not tooooo hopeful about funding, so I'm deep down expecting to end up with Pitt (not that that's a bad thing!). I toured and I looooooved the city so I'm def not disappointed. I'm lowkey worried about how to find a roommate if I end up going to Pitt (I have lots of friends in the City so I'm not worried about finding a roommate for Columbia). I know it's kind of far and a weird thing to be nervous about hahah
