I was accepted to the UF masters program for Fall 2018, I am now looking for housing arrangements so I can be ready before the semester starts. It will be me and my partner who is not attending the school. I have looked into the Continuum, they seemed friendly on the phone and is within my budget. However they told me on the phone they need proof that my cosigners income has to be 3 times the monthly rent which is more than $3,000 even though i can afford the rent on my own with my graduate assistant position. And as of now the grad hosing has no openings but i cannot afford to take the chance to sign up with them a month before the semester starts. Any locals or alumni have any recommendations for affordable hosing with my partner that is safe and close to campus?
  2. New York Academy of Art - accepted by email (02/15) small scholarship University of Florida - accepted by phone (02/15) full waiver, large stipend University of Georgia - rejected by letter (02/28) University of Washington - N/A University of Connecticut - N/A Rutgers - rejected by email (02/09)
  3. Keep your hopes up! There are still more to hear back from.
  4. Accepted to New York Academy of Art via email as well as University of Florida via phone call tonight.
  5. Yes, I got an email on January 24th from the admissions office letting me know they have all my letters and that my app is complete. Good Luck!
  6. Update: I want to thank everyone for their help on getting an email to contact Rutgers, I ended up doing so via email along with my RUID about my 3rd unsubmitted letter of rec. They did indeed have it from the admissions department and is now showing in slideroom as submitted with todays date. One less thing to worry about... However the only problem I have now is the same thing is happening with UF. I called many times but no one seems to know a number to contact anyone in the fine arts department, the only phone number on their website directs me to is the College of arts, which is everything from music to dance. I am just wanting to know if my letter got submitted and the graduate admission office tells me that it is important to contact the department I am applying to, and they advised I should email...which I have every day for the past week with no response. Has anyone reach anyone at the UF fine arts department and actually spoke to someone that can see the application status.
  7. That's interesting, when I reached out to them the first time they told me no problem they can just switch it over. But around the due date they told me it was too late and they were reviewing applications at that moment I called...hopefully they switched it over at some point when I called admissions since it was technically uploaded on time.
  8. Thank you, this is just the push I needed to send out an email. Its one of my dream schools so I just want everything to be perfect. Thanks for the info!
  9. Recently applied to Rutgers, the deadline was January 13th so I made sure everything was submitted on time. However it turned out one of my recommends did not submit their letter to the slideroom but did submit it to the university graduate admissions itself. When I called the art department later on I asked them if that was an issue and they told me yes because they are not able to see it. So I contacted the graduate school and the woman I spoke with saw that it was uploaded on time and everything so she kindly told me should would make sure the art department attach it to my documentation and that I would receive an email confirming that. Well, I never got that email and I don't want to press my luck calling back. Anyone know if there is there a chance they were able to successfully see the 3rd letter of recommendation, or the lady just told me what I wanted to hear. All thoughts/experiences appreciated.
  10. Congrats on the interview, Luckily I have had guidance from professors and friends that are in grad school to help me through it, even though it is still a lonely experience to go through. From what I have heard, the interview is not %100 that you got in but is a good indicator you are being strongly considered and they are narrowing their search. I've been told that they really just want to know why you want to go to the school over the other places you applied to, so make sure you do research on the school and why specifically you want to go there. Things like the professors, studios, resources, emphasis on a particular concentration, and you can even mention how the school would be perfect based on the tuition or free housing as why you want to go there, just make sure they don't think that is the only reason why you applied.
  11. Finished up my applications, tomorrow is the deadline for University of Florida which is the last deadline on my list. Good luck to everyone! Applied for Painting programs at: Rutgers University of Florida Florida State University University of Georgia Georgia State University New York Academy of Art University of Washington University of Connecticut
