  1. Never been to Manitoba, but honestly going to Nova Scotia for a few weeks makes applying there that much more appealing ... That sucks about finding your own placements. I would really have hoped the school would have helped out with it.
  2. I would apply to Dalhousie next year for a BSW if this year doesn't work out. I see it would require spending 2 weeks in Halifax in May which I could definitely handle. Did Manitoba have any in-person requirement for classes?
  3. Just wishing you luck. I'm also older, and limited in where I can go. But I'm also more prepared now ... honestly because if I'm paying tuition again I am going to seriously apply myself.
  4. That is fabulous to hear. I'm in Ontario, and still waiting to hear from either school I applied to this round. If I don't get in this year, it's great to add one more school to this list for next year. Thanks for your reply. How did it work with being placed for practicums?
  5. I looked into Manitoba's program, and they have a note on their site that they are technically open to Canadians, but try to keep it to people in-province. They mention WSIB coverage for students during placement as their concern/reasoning
  6. And I'm glad to hear she's liking it. I haven't heard a lot about the program, but it's not far from me and the set-up is a great fit.
  7. We're supposed to know by the end of March - which would be tomorrow. But I've been told so many different dates that I'm skeptical it's going to happen.
  8. Does she like the program? I've applied for the Peel location. I've also applied to Laurier's online program. Still waiting to hear from both.
  9. Does she like the program? I'm at 8200 hours post-grad, and meet their requirement. But I haven't been working in the field for a while as I've been home with my kids. And my average is ... well could honestly be better (but I'm over their 73% requirement) as I didn't prioritize school during my undergrad. But I'm significantly older & hopefully wiser now.
  10. Thanks. I'm waiting for a reply from their MSW for Working Professionals program.
  11. Did Windsor give you any feedback on why they rejected your application?
  12. There is a few people on this thread who've applied to the May start/online program at Laurier. No one's heard anything back yet. Classes are scheduled to start in approx. 6 weeks, it'd be great if they got the acceptances/rejections out.
  13. So sorry to hear that. How did they let you know? Did you get an email or did something change on your online account? (I've applied to their working professionals program, and my application is "in process".)
  14. Has anyone else here applied to Windsor's MSW for Working Professionals? I'm just being curious - I'm not expecting a reply from them for a few weeks yet based on how long they said it'd take to process applications.
  15. Can you clarify for me what is worrying you? I can see from an administrative standpoint that they claim ownership of anything submitted to them (including reference letters) simply to save the time/fees/etc of people asking things to be sent back to them. It seems a logical option. It could also simply be a legal phrase, to keep themselves from any liability when they destroy each year's applications. The universities have the right to destroy applications because they own them .
  16. Do you think they'll still be prepared to start in May? Seems odd they aren't prepared to admit people until a week or two before the program is expected to begin.
  17. A previous year's MSW thread said that all the application info disappears, and in it's place is a copy of your letter. I'm still waiting to hear back from Laurier, so can't confirm this for certain.
  18. Laurier isn't offering rolling admissions. I applied there to start in May. They initially stated they would do rolling admissions and changed their mind during the application process.
  19. I was initially told that I would have a decision in two weeks from submitting my application. I also applied to Windsor's MSW for Working Professionals program. They were upfront that I wouldn't hear for about 10 weeks and I find that a less stressful wait. If school is supposed to start in approximately a month and a half, I would hope they'd have the admissions sorted soon.
  20. I also thought people would prefer to start in September, to take the summer off first. Is this the first time they're offering it online?
  21. I'm wondering the same thing. When I applied I was told the class size is 25 people. I'm curious how many applicants there are too, especially when they keep extending the timeframe for getting back to you and close the application period early. I believe that since it's online, it's open to anyone in Canada. That should really increase the application pool since you don't have to be within a reasonable proximity to campus.
  22. I've also posted in the main Canadian MSW applications thread. Another response there from someone who hasn't heard anything, contacted Laurier about the part-time program and was told letters would be sent out at the end of March. That's some serious short notice.
  23. Well that really is crappy. They're really dragging this process on.
  24. Thanks. I will keep you posted too, as it feels somewhat isolating not knowing what's going on. Good luck to you too!
  25. Thanks for reassuring me that I'm not the only person who hasn't heard anything. It makes me second-guess what I wrote, wonder if somehow I simply didn't get an email I should have, etc.
