Hey everyone! I got an official offer of admissions from the University of Manchester today - first confirmed acceptance! Won't know about funding until March, though...

Try to pass the time using some activities that you like. I'm in the middle of winter break at my university, so I've been catching up on my Netflix, K-Drama and Anime backlog, writing my thesis, and watching TikTok videos. Anything that can get your mind off of the cycle is good.

I would assume that unless it's included on your resume/CV, they wouldn't check it. I did have a few people who viewed my LinkedIn profile on private mode at the beginning of the month, but i can't know if it was schools or just regular activity. I did include my LinkedIn on my CV though.

I feel like I could pay off my undergrad loans with those application fees alone.

Rent in Denver (and Colorado in general) is pretty high right now because everyone seems to be moving here. But after a quick search (I used www.apartments.com) I found studios that were anywhere from 800-1200 per month. I think you would be able to find something if you looked hard enough.
I'm a native Coloradan so I'm pretty biased, but Denver really is a fantastic city. It has great bars (and local beer) and pretty good clubs for going out, teams in all four major sports, and is only an hour or an hour and a half from amazing skiing/snowboarding/hiking in the mountains. There are concerts and music events all the time and one of the best places in the US to go to a concert (Red Rocks Amphitheater) is about 30 minutes from Denver. You will definitely get all four seasons here; it's gonna be hot and dry in the summer and cold and snowy in the winter but on average we get around 300 days of sunshine a year.

I really don't recommend signing a lease without looking at the apartment in person. You'd want to know what the neighbourhood is like at night, see if the lobby/stairs are clean, etc.....
I suggest that you find a sublet online/book a hostel room/book an Airbnb for your first few weeks. Come here a few weeks before your classes start. You won't want to be stressed from apartment search and moving.
It is definitely possible to find a studio for $1600/month in Manhattan if you don't mind living uptown (Washington Heights or Inwood, maybe Hamilton Heights as well. If you don't have a good credit score, it can be difficult to find a landlord who is willing to rent an apartment out to you. Some owners are ok international students without credit history if they have guarantors or can put down 2-3 months worth of rent for a deposit. Also, be prepared to pay a broker's fee.

I have been living in NYC for a long time. I don't know how much your yearly stipend is, but it's possible to make it work if you get more than $25k/year.
You'll probably want to look for an apartment with roommates in East Harlem, Washington Heights, Inwood, Hamilton Heights, Bushwick, Sunset Park, Prospect Heights, Crown Heights, Astoria, Long Island City and some other neighborhoods. You can also live in Jersey City. It's a quick commute to NYU on Path.
Buy groceries in Chinatown and Trader Joe's. If you don't go out too often, you should be able to save money. Just be prepared to spend around $1000/month for a decent room. Maybe you'll get lucky and find a good deal, but who knows.
A monthly unlimited ride metrocard costs $121.
I share a small 1 bedroom apartment with my boyfriend and rarely eat out. My monthly cost of living is around $1500.
