  1. Just got an interview invite for MassArt's 2D program! Was sent through email.
  2. I haven't heard from them or heard of anyone getting any communication from them yet. Have you heard something?
  3. I think I was rejected from VCU as well, but they usually only accept around 3 people yearly to each program so that was a tough one anyway. I have not heard from SVA yet either, but I did see one person had an invite there at the end of January. So I'm not sure if they've already sent interview requests to everyone or if they're staggering them out, but I feel like they might have requested everyone they were interested already (just a gut feeling). But hey, maybe we still have a chance because I honestly have no idea what their process is.
  4. I would interpret this as a really good sign.
  5. They scheduled each for 15 minutes, which is kind of short. But we ended up being on the phone for 30 minutes.
  6. This is what I was asked for Portland State's interview for MFA in Studio Practice: Why do you want to go to graduate school? Why now? Are you open to experimenting and breaking out of your comfort zone with your work? Can you tell me about your current creative concepts? Where do you see your art progressing in the future? Are there any projects, books or films that have inspired you and your work? What contemporary artists are you interested right now? Why have you chosen to apply to this institution/program? Are you open to working on projects outside of the University? They also opened the floor to any questions that I had for them. Hope this is helpful!
  7. Did anyone else apply to any places with a Feburary 1st deadline? I'm not excited for a second round of waiting lol I'm waiting on CCCAD, Colorado State, U of Wisconsin - Milkwaukee and MECA that were all due on the 1st.
  8. Still haven't heard from SVA, VCU, MassArt or Columbia College Hate that I can't just get a rejection instead of suffering through this silence and getting a rejection way after the acceptances and interviews go out )^:
  9. Not sure if anyone applied for the MFA in Studio Art for the University at Buffalo, but I received an email from the graduate director, Matt Kenyon, who informed me that deadlines have been extended to February 20th for MFA applications, but they will be sending out the first round of offers for those that applied by the original January 15th deadline very soon.
  10. Just had my interview with Portland State for the MFA in Studio Practice. It was scheduled for 15 minutes, but we talked for 30 minutes. Hopefully that's not a bad thing. The questions they asked (for anyone with an interview soon and are wondering how it will go): Why do you want to go to graduate school?
  11. I'm waiting on MassArt as well, good luck!
  12. I have an interview tomorrow morning for Portland State. What kind of questions do you think they would ask based on this description. Seems like not enough time to answer any tough questions about my art, so I'm wondering if they're just interested in getting to know me. "The next step in our process is a 15-minute phone interview. This informal conversation gives us an opportunity to get a better sense of your interests while it offers you a chance to learn more about the program."
  13. Me too. This is my second year doing this. I'm terrified this was all for nothing. So I feel you, let's just do our best to stay hopeful. Last year notifications were scattered throughout the beginning of February so don't put too much focus on tomorrow. Also lots of schools in the Midwest will be delayed due to the weather!
  14. Dang, it's looking more and more like a rejection for me! Congrats on the interview, that is quite the accomplishment!
  15. I haven't and I applied for painting
  16. I don't remember exactly but I'm pretty sure it was around February 12th.
  17. I didn't apply to either of those this year. But last year I interviewed with both and they didn't send interview requests until February. Hope that helps!
  18. I haven't heard anything from VCU yet, seems like they haven't sent any notifications out yet.
  19. I just got an interview with Portland State for their MFA in Contemporary Art Practice in Studio Art! Any tips for phone interviews is very welcome. They've described the interview process as informal and about 15 minutes.
  20. I forgot to add that I also applied to the University of Buffalo as well!
  21. Hello all, This is my second time around. Last year I attempted to apply to 9 of the big league school's painting programs and I was able to get into 2. I did not receive enough funding to be able to attend either. I was weeks away from graduating undergraduate school during my MFA application process last year, so I don't think I devoted as much time and care as I could have. There is a lot more riding on an MFA acceptance this year, so I've aimed toward some schools with more realistic acceptance rates for me. I've struggled mentally and physically this past year, but I gave everything I had left to give to these applications. The biggest issue this year has been finding funding for application fees (still not sure how I'll pay for one of the three remaining fees). I wish luck to everyone! My official list: MASSART - Submitted Columbia College - Chicago - Submitted Portland State - Submitted SVA - Submitted Colorado State - Needs app. fee paid VCU - Submitted MECA - Submitted University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee - Needs app. fee paid CCAD - Needs app. fees paid
  22. I haven't seen many post about it but I got into the New York Studio School this past week. Received my acceptance via email a day after my interview. Just waiting on funding. If anyone is looking to room with people who are headed to New York, I'm game!
