I'm thinking that Juilliard (the only program I applied to because I already have my MFA) is letting rejections know my April 15th because that's the official deadline when you have to respond if you are attending or not to any program (regardless of what schools say to pressure you, lol) They always let the people who they want first so I'm feeling like the reach outs to the ones they want are happening soon - anyone tag me if you hear news please!
-
Hello all! Just wondering if anyone has heard anything from Juilliard yet?
-
I have GRE books - anyone want them? Must be located in Manhattan...

Anyone want GRE prep books - if you're located in Manhattan PM me!
-
Anyone need GRE Prep books?! I bought these and did a course at Manhattan Prep some years ago when I was on a completely different path. They are minimally used and good! While it was a few years ago and I'm sure the parameters of the test might have changed information is still very much the same... If you're thinking about applying to Austin #getonit! I bought them for something like $150-200 but I would take MUCH much less cause they're older and have some use.... Let me know. Must be NYC based... I don't want to ship them.

I just called... the answer to this question is, yes!
-
Random Q - Do you know if you can apply to the Julliard playwriting program post MFA?
-
So... If you have until April 15th to decide... when does that expire? Midnight on the 15th.... not midnight the 14th right? Its a Sunday so I'm just running scared of any technically glitches...

Off to visit Indiana today! I visited BU last week! Then it's decision making time.... Trying to stay present and open and remember having a choice is a really really good thing. Excited to see what Bloomington is like.

@per4mance I went to CalArts for undergrad in acting so I can answer any Valencia related questions you may have. I'm from NYC and it's quite a culture shock. Is Travis still heading up the dept?

I'm a playwright but I'm wondering what directors think BU vs Indiana? For directors - like what attracts you - but also maybe when you think of those programs in regards to the writers you would get to work with. BU takes a cohort of 5 every two years. Indiana takes 1 per year. Both fully funded w living stipends etc.

Also... @Boxedwine - is Iowa not fully funded? I was under the impression that it was. If so, do you also get a living stipend? I just went deep into gradcafe and found out (I think through another one of your posts) that Liz Engelman is the head of playwriting at Austin! I got the emerging artists residency at Tofte Lake in Sept and I had no idea of the connection until now. That's fun! Hopefully whatever school I end up at will let me go to that too so I can still go and spend a week with her there.

@MadamDirector Congrats on BU! I'm a playwright and I was accepted on Monday. I'm not sure if that's where I'll end just yet but if so hiiiiii!! I'd love to talk to you in a more one on one fashion about your visit there if there's a possibility to PM on this site or perhaps somewhere else.

@SeaLou yes I got offered a spot at BU and I'm a finalist for Indiana. Thank you @Boxedwine that was helpful and informative. Still no news on Iowa - have other people heard from them? If I get into Iowa I may have more questions for you.I think Iowa is on spring break now right? The thing is I LOVE Peter so much! I found out today that at BU you are really only there your first two years. Your last year is not funded and you just have to be there for 5 weeks for the rehearsal and performance of you thesis play - I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing though since I want to generate the biggest body of work possible while I have the time to and while I'm being afforded that luxury through a stipend.

Hi Everyone - new here. I just found out about this page a few days ago... which is probably a good thing because I would have driven myself nuts! Question: If you had to decide between BU and Indiana what program which way would you go. As you probably all know both come with a tuition waiver, 16k/yr stipend, and insurance. BU takes 5 every two years and Indiana takes one. I'm not going to go on and on describing the differences in the programs but if someone who really knows the two programs deeply and the faculty etc. which way would you lean....
