  1. I applied, but wasn't expecting to hear back until much later. Do you think they'll get back to us this soon?
  2. I’m also waiting on Widener. (And 7 other psy.d. programs) 2 people on the results page said they have interviews, so I’m not sure what that means for those of us who haven’t heard.
  3. Does anyone know anything about Widener interviews for the Psy.D. program? It seems like they have interviews between mid January and the end of February. Has anyone here been invited to an interview?
  4. What about for Psy.D. programs? Do you think this is also the case? (since we're not applying to work with specific faculty members)
  5. Do programs usually send out all of the invitations on the same day? If I haven't heard from a program that another person heard from, should I assume that I was rejected?
  6. It seems like most of the schools I applied to have gotten back to applicants after the 14th in recent years. Still, I can’t stop obsessively checking my email/this forum. Also, can someone please create a different topic for POI requests?? If I read one more request, I’m going to start pulling my hair out!
  7. School: IUP Type: Clinical Psy.D. Date of Invite: 12/21 Type of invite: Mass email Interview date(s): 1/25- 2/4 I'm so excited! IUP is one of my top choices! Is anyone else interviewing there? If so, how are you getting there? (Driving, flying to Pittsburgh, etc.?)
  8. This is common practice for Psy.D programs too? I haven't seen any other threads about Psy.D faculty. Thanks!
  9. Hi All, For those of you who are applying to Psy.D. programs, are you contacting faculty members whom you're interested in working with? Do you think that it will help? And if so, what are you saying in these emails? Thank you!
  10. Hey Everyone, Is anyone here applying to the La Salle Psy.D. Program? If so, how have you been able to address their personal statement (which asks 4 questions in 2 double-spaced pages, max.) Also, has anyone else had this problem with other applications? For reference: Provide a personal statement (double-spaced, not to exceed two pages) that describes all of the following: 1. why you want to pursue a Psy.D. 2. why La Salle’s program is a good fit with your career goals (mention specific faculty expertise if applicable); 3. your experience working with clinical populations; your experience conducting research; 4. and your interest in and experience working with the community and disadvantaged populations (can include but is not limited to low SES, rural populations, ethnic/racial minorities, LGBT populations, immigrant families, individuals with disabilities or chronic illness, service learning).
  11. Thank you all for your input! You've all given great advice!
  12. Hey all, I'm trying to include one of my research jobs (which was in language and emotion perception) into my personal statement, but I'm not sure if there's a way to connect it to the rest of my essay (which is about my interest in trauma. I've really tried connecting the two, but anything I've written sounds like a stretch. I volunteered at the lab for two year--should I just not write about it? Is there a way to incorporate it into my statement that I'm not thinking of? Also, I'm only applying to Psy.D. programs, so the research is less relevant, but it might still be important since it was two years of research experience. Thank you in advance!!
  13. I'm so glad that I found this forum! I'm applying Psy.D. programs (and MSW as a backup)- does anyone know if you can apply to doctoral programs as a second year after getting an MSW? Or is that just for a masters in counseling? Also, out of curiosity, is anyone applying to the GWU Psy.D. program? I was going to, but read that it's mainly psychoanalytically oriented. I'm just curious because their admissions essays are so unique (nice word for odd), I'd love to hear how people are handling those essays.
