  1. I only applied to two. I'm a nontraditional student, a parent, and a military spouse. Moving to another city is not an option. I applied to an instate online program and a local private university. I was accepted to the online program (my first choice) and accepted my spot there. I was asked to interview for the second place, but I declined since I already accepted my seat.
  2. I’m interviewing with them next Friday! Can you tell me your about your experience? Do you have the option to work part time for Duval? Do you feel like you have fair mentorship? Are you in graduate school right now?
  3. Thank you for responding! That is exactly what I was hoping to know. I have been accepted to graduate school, so I will already be in school when/if I start. I’ve applied to the three counties around me. Are you in a graduate program now? Are you able to balance both?
  4. I think only you can decide and commit if it’s doable. It’s only two years, so it may be bearable to know that the end is in sight. I was making this decision a few weeks ago. My other factor also included getting my children to/from school. In the end, I decided against the long commute school. While the commute was a factor in my decision, the cost of that school was almost double of my other program and was the deciding factor. If I were a young new grad and it was my only option for school, I’d make it work. :) Good luck deciding! 1 hour really isn’t terrible - there are a lot of great SLP podcasts to help pass the time.
  5. Florida has a provision where someone with a CSD Bachelor's Degree can work in the public school as an SLP with a temporary license. The person then has 5 years to obtain a Master's Degree. Is anyone doing this right now? I'd like to know how much support/supervision you've gotten as a new graduate without the Master's level clinical experiences.
  6. I am hoping someone can share their experiences with the FSU Distance Learning program. I was accepted for this fall. Did you work during your program? When and where were your practicums? Did you search them out yourself or were you placed?
