  1. Word. I suspect rejection then, too. I wonder when NELC announces? Or already has, perhaps.
  2. Chicago Div? Penn RS?
  3. Me too. Oh well, now we know.
  4. Did Chicago make any non-Chicago applicant offers yet? Now if only Penn would show up...
  5. Since several of you are in/applying to Duke's MA in Religious Studies, feel free to shoot me a message if you have any questions. I am about to finish up in the program and have been very happy since I have been here! If you want to study in a program that literally only requires you to take one class - the rest is up to you, within religion, classics, philosophy, history, theory, anything at all related to 'religion' - you would enjoy your time here. Not only that, but our program, because it takes only half a dozen students a year, yet has the resources of a giant religious studies/divinity faculty, comes with the benefit to work individually with professors. I have done six ind. studies in my two years here, and all of those were not difficult to find! We also have been quite successful in our doctoral placement, including several of us admitted to top programs already this season (several of us in at various departments at Duke). cheers
  6. Shit, I'm sorry. Well, there is always next year. Many of us have to apply several cycles, unfortunately; and even more of us have to get yet another masters. *sigh*
  7. Sorry :'(. Did you apply elsewhere?
  8. It usually notifies you with a red number when you login; though if you click 'analytics' at the top it displays the history of searches made (sometimes it doesn't notify you with the red number, it seems). I have three looks on my profile from Monday, but they are only listed as 'USA'....haha....damnit...
  9. Rejected from HDS (ThD), too. Holding out hope for Religion and NELC!
  10. Anyone hear anything more about Yale (RS)? I see one acceptance (theology) and one rejection (AC), but nothing else...? Was sagen sie?
  11. Declined an offer at Indiana-Bloomington. Hopefully that opens up a spot for one of you!
  12. They have made official offers and notified those waitlisted, thus your chances are not great. I told them to drop me off the waitlist, and others may have done the same, so perhaps there is still some hope for you!?
  13. To be fair, theology MA's tend to have wildly high admissions rates compared to Philosophy MA's. It may sound strange, but it is easier to get into Harvard Divinity School (acceptance somewhere around 50%) than it would be for SFSU. Not that you can't get into a competitive program with your GPA, just thought I would caution against comparing theological degrees vs. philosophical MA's. cheers
  14. I just withdrew my name from the list of possible Notre Dame admits (CJA). After spending the weekend on campus I realized it wasn't the best place for me. I hope this frees up admissions for someone else in either CJA or another track!
  15. Ahh, well that sucks. So I suspect if I haven't heard anything from Yale then it's a rejection, too. Alas.
  16. I was at an interview recently with someone who was accepted at Georgetown (fairly sure for theology).
  17. Does that mean they have sent out AC? I see one rejection already. Anyone wanna claim it/more info?
  18. Harvard yes (Div, Religion, and NELC), UT nope.
  19. Wondering the same...don't think so.
  20. Rejected at Princeton.
  21. It helps a lot if your academic record has some measure of continuity (and of course if your record is good!). I have been more or less 'building' on my interests since college, mostly in the same field. This made writing the statement, while still taking a ton of time, much easier in that I didn't have to 'explain' having, for instance, an undergrad degree in something completely unrelated. You might just start with something like an 'intellectual genealogy.' Just start writing, beginning with college and move through whatever has happened 'intellectually' up until this point. Again, for those of us who have several advanced degrees, this sop 'model' is a bit more straight forward!
  22. Withdrew from the waitlist at UVA. Hopefully that helps some of you!
  23. Anyone have insight on Penn (Religious Studies)?
  24. Duke is 22k + 5k summer and the chance for more through scholarships.
  25. Good lord, these stipends are pretty bad...any idea what big names are giving? I know Duke gives 22k for the year and another 5.5k for summer. What about Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Chicago?
