  1. Do we need to email scholarshipsadministration@sshrc-crsh.gc.ca or fellowships@sshrc-crsh.gc.ca to indicate whether we accept or decline the award? I read in their website that "Award recipients must accept or decline by sending an email to the appropriate program contact, stating whether they accept or decline, and confirming the start date. " It seems like fellowships@sshrc-crsh.gc.ca is the appropriate email since it is listed under "program contact"
  2. I got sshrc doctoral fellowship (four years $80000) with 16.56/20. I’m a little bit disappointed as I was expecting to get CGS-D, but still feel grateful. I have more than 10 conference presentations, 3 publications (two first authors), many TAships, a few provincial awards, 90% GPA. I think it’s probably because of my proposal, maybe the committee members didn’t like my research so much. I also have another Graduate degree before I attended my current school. Not sure If this also affected my scores.
  3. Hello everyone, I'm going to quit gradcafe forum. I realize not all people post truthful information and it's frustrating and misleading. For my peace of mind, I'm going to quit to stop seeking comfort and boosting my ego by comparing to others. The application process is stressful already. This is an additional stressor in my life. I don't want to completely discredit this forum because it is still very helpful to an extent. There are still people who offer constructive advice. Nevertheless, I don't think it worths my time and energy. So Good Bye. All the best to your application.
  4. I didn't find the place to upload GRE scores for Queens. I ended up sending it directly to the graduate coordinator.
  5. I called the admission office a while ago and they said they only receive GRE results in print, not electronically. How did you submit your GRE unofficial scores? I didn't find anywhere I can upload it.
  6. I totally feel you. It's the only school that has character limit... I spent so much time to shorten my statement and publications. I wonder did you get your GRE official results in?
  7. Hi mdmhfx, Thanks for the information! I did email my schools my unofficial GRE report. Most schools are fine, just one school mentioned that as long as it was received before the new year, it would be fine. Mine was sent out on Nov. 21st, hopefully it will be received in the next two weeks. I don't know why it takes ETS so long, maybe the strike does have a influence.
  8. Hello everyone, I hope your applications are almost done! I have a quick question: does ETS mail test results through Canada Post? Given the Canada post strike and the huge backlog, I worry it will take a long time for the results to be received by recipients schools!
  9. I'm applying to clinical psychology programs. In one of my submitted applications, I identified 3 potential supervisors whom I am interested in working with. I wonder whether this would be an issue? Maybe I should just focus on two or one supervisor? I now feel difficult to write my statement of intent if I want to say I'm interested in working with all of them. I think I need to focus on one or two supervisor only. However, I've already filled in the online form and I can't change it. The first one I entered is the one I wanted to work with the most. Appreciate your help!
  10. Thanks TrindStarr. So I guess my application won't be disadvantaged if the references came in right before it due?
  11. Hello Everyone, I'm applying to UBC and I have a question about the deadline of the reference letter. On the website it says: December 1 (for all required documents, excluding letters of reference) December 15 (for letters of reference only) However, when I filled in my referees' info in the online application form, it also says something like "the school will start review applications on Dec. 3 although references are due on Dec 15th". What exactly does it mean? is there a real difference between submitting all my references before the 3rd and before the 15th?
  12. I think people are now busy preparing the application. The Dec deadline is approaching! We will need more support during the waiting time
  13. Hi Yiyu, I made a decision last night to send both scores to schools. I contacted two schools and they are okay with multiple scores and one school asked me to pick the highest one. However, you know it's hard to pick the highest one. All my school deadlines are on Dec. 1st, there is no way my official GRE scores will be received by school recipients before the deadline. So, I have to upload the unofficial GRE transcript (the PDF version from the ets website). That means the admission committee will likely to see all my previous scores because the online PDF transcript includes all the scores I got in the past. Therefore, for my peace of mind, I just send both official scores since the faculty will see all my scores anyway, and I believe they will pay attention all other scores you achieved and make a comprehensive evaluation. I don't think taking the average is reasonable, especially in Canadian universities where most profs don't place much emphasis on GRE scores. I think if you have both scores, the admission committee may see your good AWA in the first time and may not filter you out in the first round. Just my thought, but I think contact schools is a good idea to get more information. You could call as well, which will help you get your answers quickly. At the best!
  14. Hi Liu, I think your V and Q scores are awesome! I have the same dilemma, but my scores are not as good as yours. I would recommend you call or email the grad admission office about your situation. I called one of my schools, the lady told me they discourage sending two scores, I should send the best one.
  15. Good Luck everyone! I just submitted my first app More to come
  16. Hello, Guys, I'm new to Gradcafe. This looks like a great place to get answers and support This is my first time applying to PhD Clinical psychology in Canada. My undergraduate GPA: 3.8 out of 4.3; Master GPA: 4.2 out 4.3. I recently took two GRE tests. In the first one: Verbal: 83th percentile, Quant: 80th, AWA: 69th, In my second one: V: 86th, Quant: 72th, AWA: 92th. Average scores of schools I'm interested: V: 77th, Q: 69th, and AWA: 78th. Ps. I got an A+ for all my upper and graduate level stat courses I'm now not sure which score I should send to schools. So, could you guys vote which option you think it's the best solution? Thank you!
