I have never met another one (that I know of) so well met! I hope that I meet many more in the future, especially with my area of research interest. Me too regarding decisions coming sooner but I was Hoping we would hear soon lol. I am hoping I get my answer from Temple and U Mich soon. My American schools will be the harder choices (if I get in) as I'd be going out of country so I'd like lots of time to see my options and decide. Are you local to Temple?

That would be great! Trans too here. Ou that would be an interesting research topic! I'd be very interested to see the results of that-and to speak with trans gamers and hear what they have to say. It would be a very cool project. It will be so nice when the results are in and we all know where we stand...this waiting is killer and it's not even Feb!

Did you end up struggling through the UD essay this weekend? I feel I know who your person of interest at Temple is because I'd like them on my committee as well (although not as my main) ?. I am interested in transgender representation in video games/popular culture. If I do get in at Temple then I want to focus on representation in video games. Your research interest sounds very cool! Gender is one of my "things" that really gets me when it comes to research. I love studying it and constructions of masculinity/femininity as well.

Thank you very much! I applied to Concordia, York, Wilfred Laurier, U of Michigan, and Western. Mostly Canadian schools, Temple is my only other American one. Good luck with the interview! Hmm if you already received an acceptance from (presumably) a school you'd like to go to, maybe save the money unless you like the program and want it to be a potential option. Those are just my thoughts-ultimately your decision! Personally I am worn out from 7 applications...I couldn't make myself write another one if you paid me. ? Out of curiosity, what are your research interests/what research area are you looking at pursuing?

Anyone want to claim that Temple Acceptance snail mail letter? I also applied at Temple so that post made me shoot straight out of bed in excitement this morning to check my mail.

Anyone thinking of going to Concordia's (Montreal, Canada) open house on Feb 16? Unsure whether this is a thing I should prioritize-seems like a chance to potentially meet and greet with people and faculty?

@stressedandconfused ? Looking back I completely understand why you wouldn't want to type all that out. As an aside, finding Canadian faculty members with interest in Queer/Trans studies was a little like pulling teeth ?

Anyone else applying to the York (in Toronto, Canada) Gender, Feminist & Women's studies PhD program? That's the one I applied to. Everything else I applied to in Communications

@Dares That actually makes a lot of sense. It also seems like the Ivy Leagues are rolling out decisions rather quickly. Have yet to see a decision from any of my schools, really. In any discipline

I have noticed there are TONS of "hard science" updates in the results page. Are Social Sciences (and our discipline) generally later than others? Any vets noticed this? Is our discipline just tiny? lol

@alexisqaz I would talk to Dr. Laine Nooney at NYU Steinhardt-I had reached out to Dr. Nooney and they said they really only did archival research. This is not my line of research interest but sounds like it may be a good fit for you. Not sure about other programs, but look up Dr. Nooney during your foray into looking at MA programs.

Hi all, I also applied to U of Penn in Communication PhD. My other applications went off to U of Mich, Laurier, Western, York (Comm and Gender/Women/Feminist program), and working on Concordia. Anyone else applying to any of these? Best of luck to everyone in their application process!
