I'm so glad you've made this thread because I've been struggling to find other applicants! I applied to Korean and have heard nothing so far. I'm hoping around next week is when we'll start hearing back (hopefully!)

Has anyone here applied to University of Hawaii? I saw that someone posted a rejection via postal service which seems a bit strange. Has anyone heard anything?

I wouldn’t hold my breath. It seems like the department has a lot on their plate at the moment…

i imagine they are waiting for the comaroff chaos to calm down...
That’s exactly what I was thinking. Seems like they’ve got bigger fish to fry and probably put admissions on the back burner for a bit.

Aaaaand just got the rejection letter in my portal. No email or anything, I just signed in and saw it. First rejection hitting hard
Same makes me nervous about the other schools I’ve applied to

I see that some are starting to hear back from Duke. There are no updates to my portal or anything. Anyone else hear nothing?

Any UChicago applicants here? Seems like they sent out interview requests a bit earlier than this last year and I’m curious if the one listed on gradcafe is even legit. Anyone else heard anything or talked to anyone?

Your research sounds fascinating! If you don't mind sharing, what's your region?
I study mass protest in South Asia and how it produces resistance against the state.
My region is East Asia!

Out of curiosity, what are y’all studying/what are your research interests? I love hearing what other budding anthropologists are into! I study religion and media and how media trends have impacted religious experience.

Haha I’m also sweating it out about Duke. It seems that there are zero acceptances on the results page for Duke so that’s a bit scary. Glad I’m not the only one obsessively checking my email! I haven’t heard anything from any of my schools but I’m hoping for some news in the coming weeks.

Hi there! I was wondering if anyone is still active here! This has been the only place I have been able to find others applying to the Blakemore Fellowship. I applied last year for chinese, but was not awarded a fellowship, so I will be applying again this year. After much review, I found that my personal statement is likely what needs work. I was wondering if someone might have some tips to offer of different things to include or discuss, or maybe the tone of the statement, length, etc. that might help. If anyone else is applying for the next cycle as well, I'd be thrilled to connect!
I am applying for Korean! This will be my first time applying so I really don't know what to expect and there really isn't much online to go off of so that certainly makes me a bit nervous.

Anyone here applying for 2021-2022?

I’ll be shocked if it’s not out by the end of this week.

I haven't received an email yet. Has anyone else? Have those who have received emails already been told they're advancing?
Oops my bad. I didn’t mean the just sent it, I meant whenever they do decide you just get an email. There’s no announcement of notification dates or anything

hi!! Does anyone know if they announce the notification date ahead of time? Or will we just get an email whenever decisions come out?
They just send out the email

Congratulations on Stanford, that's incredible!!!! I'm super excited for you on this. I know FLAS usually takes a while and from what I have heard and read, it doesn't seem to normally come with the acceptance offer. I would give it a little longer, although I know how TOUGH it is to keep waiting, because you might be surprised!
Oh I’m going no matter what. FLAS would just be veryyyyyy nice to ease the financial burden.

Thanks, I appreciate it! I am in a similar boat as well, I do not want to take out loans (especially for a 2 year degree) and I don't have the financials at all to afford it without funding. Fingers crossed for the both of us!!!
I got my Stanford decision letter and got in (!!!) but no word on FLAS so I guess that means either I didn't get it or they haven't decided yet. But I think I just didn't get it.

Best of luck to you! I am also only going for an MA right now and going in second year. I am worried that the notification will come close or past the decision deadline..so I hope it comes in March. A girl can definitely dream! If you want, keep me posted on when your notification comes in. I know it's a school to school basis, but might provide a general ballpark to settle my impatience haha
Thank you!! I think I've heard for Stanford they find out with their acceptance, which last year was around March 5th, so hopefully sometime soon!! I really don't want to take out loans and there's no way I can afford it otherwise. Best of luck to you as well!

i'm a current MA student applying for funding for my 2nd year. it'll be my fourth year of russian study. i'd be over the moon to get funding and stipend so i can work less.
Wouldn't it be nice? I'm starting the first year of my MA degree Fall 2020 and I'm worried about managing my student workload with my actual workload because rent doesn't pay itself!
