  1. For those who received a teaching assistantship from Temple, how were you notified? I was admitted into a Ph.D. program at Temple University and was told two weeks ago that I was nominated for a teaching assistant and that the final approval would come from the graduate school. I have yet to receive an *official* notice of the teaching assistantship i.e. a letter about the funding package, etc. Is anyone still waiting to hear about funding from Temple? If you received a teaching assistantship or fellowship, did you receive a letter from the graduate school? How were you notified?
  2. Hi, I will be attending Temple as a PhD student in the department of religion!
  3. I just got this email from the department: In reviewing some of the applications, the Admissions Committee decided that some applications would work best for the Masters, rather than for the Doctoral, Program. if you have been notified that you have been accepted into the Masters Program, then, yes, you have been considered for and accepted to matriculate into that Program only. So, they admitted me for the MA instead of the PhD. Very weird because I applied for the PhD specifically! I hope you get off the waitlist for the PhD!
  4. I checked the portal today and saw that I was accepted--but it now says "MA" not "PhD." I'm checking with the department to see what this means for sure. maybe keep checking the portal?
  5. hi everyone! been lurking on this forum for a while. the only gender studies PhD program I applied to was Rutgers. I randomly checked the web portal today and saw that I've been admitted--but under "degree" it now says MA, not PhD. has this happened to anyone? is it normal practice for a PhD program to admit applicants for an MA instead of a PhD?
  6. hi, everyone! joining this thread to ease my anxiety as I wait! this is my first time applying to Ph.D. programs, and I fear that I am terribly underqualified! I applied to only Northwestern (American Religions), Princeton (Religion in the Americas), Temple, and Drew (Religion and Society). My primary focus is on Catholicism and abortion in the U.S. I came to the Ph.D. with a background in journalism and activism, having recently completed a book for a large Catholic nonprofit, but I lack a MDiv, Master's in Religion, etc. which makes me feel very underqualified! (I do have an MFA in Writing and currently, teach composition at a four-year university). I had an interview with Temple this weekend, and have been invited to sit in on a seminar by their department chair. Does anyone know if Princeton continues interviewing later in the cycle? And does Northwestern generally do interviews, too?
