I know, I talked to the graduate director Jamie Fader when I was at ASC in November and she said that if you didn't hear back you were waitlisted, she said that if you got in or got rejected you should've known on the 22nd. But clearly not all of us on the forum got waitlisted and I already know I got rejected because my GRE's weren't high enough and I what I want to study doesn't fit the program; however, I would like that confirmation. I have been reading previous years forums and some people just never heard back from Temple at all which is really crappy because they should at least have the decency to say "Hey you were not qualified so we didn't accept you" instead of making us wait months and months to hear back. If they already made their final decisions in December why don't they reject us as well? It makes no sense to me to keep a bunch of people in limbo if half of us aren't even on the waitlist.

I emailed them asking for an update on my status and nothing yet. I am taking this as an implied rejection but they do have waitlists so don’t give up!!

I am now only officially waiting on one school, thank you Penn State for sending me a formal rejection instead of this “you’re just never going to hear from us again” b.s. You know I am really not that upset about this, it was a long shot, congrats if anyone else got in!

I was rejected from Northeastern as well but accepted into their masters program. Not worth the money at all haha, I have a feeling Penn State hasn't sent out all of their decisions yet, just be patient!!

I'm sorry!! You still have what 8 other programs that you're waiting to hear back from? You'll just have to wait and see!

I am still partially hopeful about Penn State, there has only been two acceptances so they might do waves. I am not sure about Cincy because I didn't apply there, and I don't think I've seen any GSU, UL, or Florida go out. I'm waiting only on Temple and Penn State, but Temple seems to be a clear rejection to me but I am not so sure about Penn State yet.

I am waiting on Penn State too, but I also have a low GRE score. I didn't do good in any categories and I retook it. I still got into a program. What I would worry about is that a lot of schools use GRE if you have a low GPA and vice versa, like if you have a low GPA then you're going to want to get a high GRE, but if you have a low GRE you want to make sure you have a high GPA. I think you have a really good chance at still getting into a couple programs if you have research experience! Don't give up hope yet, I thought I wasn't going to get in anywhere and then I did!

I meant more along the lines of GPA, GRE, Publications, Author, Research Experience... What are the other 8 programs you applied to?

You heard back from Temple? *sigh* I'm pretty sure I got rejected but I just want them to tell me I got rejected instead of all this waiting. I already got into another program that I'm probably going to accept their offer, but it would be nice to have other options other than paying $35,000 to go to Northeastern for a year.

Has anyone else not heard back from all the programs they applied to? I feel like most people on this forum have heard from everyone and I'm getting a little frustrated.

Social disorganization or I'm doing a project currently on women's prisons.

I am still so excited and I cannot believe that as someone who struggled almost all my life in school (and actually had a high school teacher tell both my parents and I at a high school teachers conference that I was going nowhere in life) to get accepted into a PhD program. I got to sleep in that morning because I didn't have class and I didn’t work until 1, so I was sitting there making toast, putting granola in my yogurt, and just sat down to eat and drink coffee and I decided to check my email and my first email was some random person but it just has the first part and just stated “We have made a decision on your...”. Panicked because one I had no idea which school it was and then I opened it and right when when I read that I had gotten accepted I screamed and started jumping around. I called my mom and was pacing back and forth hyperventilating and my mom thought I was DYING and I just blurted it out! I still haven’t heard back from most of my programs but I still cannot believe. I wasn’t expecting it because previous years were notified later. I still keep re reading the email and I’ve been researching the school to the very intimate details because I am super exited!

Has anyone else heard back from Penn State? I noticed a couple acceptances on the results, but no rejections. Is this because they accepted their “top applicants” first or is it that all acceptances were sent out only a few reported?

Did you talk to them?? Have they said anything to you about your application or are they behind or what??

When I first saw the reject I thought it was Penn State, and I was like thank god now I'll finally know something... but sadly it wasn't I'm sorry about your rejections! You still have four schools to hear back from, and I also haven't heard back from Temple, super tempted to email them...

Pittsburgh would've been so cool! Great program and great city. Didn't fit my research interests so I sadly did not apply but good luck to you!

Thank you! And congrats on your acceptance at IUP! Hopefully, there is going to be good funding. I didn't know they had online Ph.D. programs! That seems like it would be hard. I looked into UMASS Lowell but I am trying to coordinate schools with my SO, so it makes it difficult to find places that both align with what we want. American is a great school! And it's in DC which makes it even better

Yeah, I feel the same way that I am definitely going to be rejected. I only applied to four schools Northeastern: rejected from the Ph.D. accepted into the masters with a scholarship; Penn State: still waiting; University of Iowa: accepted with a $20,000 stipend and full funding for five years (Sociology concentrated on crim).

Do you think you have a chance at getting in? It seems like there's a lot of people on this feed that seem more than qualified but didn't hear anything in December. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Either we are all waiting for rejections letters to come mid-February... sigh... or they don't have their sh*t together. I'm shocked that a couple was accepted in December but then they don't notify anybody else of anything for two whole months it's a little aggravating.
