  1. Thanks for the update. I might just write and withdraw in that case.
  2. I wonder what's going on, no reports on the results page, and surely they won't wait until April 14.
  3. Out of interest, did anyone actually hear back from Columbia Classics?
  4. I'm an international, so my stats may be skewed. I was lucky enough to get into 8 out of the 11 schools to which I applied, with 2 withdrawals and 1 rejection. GPA - 4.0 (B.A.) GRE - 170 V, 159 Q, 5.5 W I don't think that stats alone helped me through tough scrutiny, however. I believe that I was helped along by several peer-reviewed publications (both existing and accepted), including solo-authored chapters, and a large amount of conference presentations (> 10). I think advanced qualifications in two of the 'mandatory' modern languages were also useful, as was work experience as a research assistant for more than one professor. Edit: By 'mandatory' I meant the languages in which candidates must pass exams to earn the PhD, not mandatory at the time of application.
  5. I can't speak for Cambridge, but for Columbia I had my visit there about a month ago. However, I did accelerate that as I wanted to visit it along with another school. They certainly haven't sent out any results yet, at least as far as I can say, so I wouldn't lose hope.
  6. I was there for Celtic Classics last year.
  7. Congratulations! I look forward to meeting you.
  8. Congrats! Have you visited St Andrews? I was there in the summer and loved it, the ocean is truly beautiful. I had a real θάλαττα θάλαττα moment!
  9. Harvard has started calling, got a call from the DGS just now. Hooray!
  10. It was a generic email but with my name on it, sent out by the DGS and graduate administrator. The admitted applicants day is 3/4 April. We were also informed to tell them ASAP if not accepting, as that 'might make it possible for us to pass that offer on to another applicant' - so it seems they will be moving down the waitlist.
  11. I wasn't the one who reported (I am about to), but I did get in. What information would you be looking for?
  12. Thanks for letting us know, I guess it's all over for me on that front. To add to that, in case anyone is waiting, the Stanford visit is in 2 days and the Penn visit took place last Thurs/Fri. Brown will be holding a prospectives interview + visit from 7-9 March.
  13. I don't know, from the gradcafe results of 2018 for example, every single person who reported their results from Harvard Classics was rejected and therefore heard back only in March. So gradcafe is a good guide but not always indicative. Still, I shan't infect everyone with my pessimism. In any case, this week will be The Week for these schools it seems, the only discernible trend I can see is that for the past years, the last week of February has been a big wave of acceptances (with more rejections in early March). So let's not be uncomfortable, as you say, but it is all making me nervous for sure.
  14. The lack of news from some schools is starting to make me really uncomfortable.
  15. Thanks everyone for your replies, it is indeed nerve-wracking, I was afraid they had already sent out their responses and people just hadn't reported them. But grad cafe is usually quite useful in that if universities do send out offers, at least one person will have posted it on the results page. I will report as soon as I hear something, for the sake of our collective sanity. Best of luck to all!
