  1. Is this the only active chatterbox thread? The exam period is killing me, lol. Need to not fall asleep on the desk.
  2. Competitive entries are... well, competitive. The more you do, the better, but a lot depends on your... well, competition, other candidates. It's not about what you did right or wrong but if you were better than others and if you distinguished yourself, if you are at the top.
  3. Not my personal experience, but I've heard good things about Berlin and there are lots of young people living there, the air is very international. Barcelona is also a popular target of international students and people describe it as friendly. You have the Eastern Berlin and the Western Berlin, and the Eastern Berlin used to be the communist half, so it's less appealing, however, because of it, it's cheaper to rent a place to live there and lots of young people live there and it's more of a party district than Western Berlin. Spain is the south of Europe, so the atmosphere is more chill and people tend to socialise and have fun more. Vienna isn't a popular choice, so I haven't heard much of it.
  4. Wouldn't it be easier to catch up on the material alone? What subjects specifically do you want to learn? Is it mathematics?
  5. I wonder how that works in other countries, because where I live you can't officially be a PhD student without earning a Master's degree first. Even if you came back from abroad with such a PhD without a Master's you would potentially have problems in the workplace such as pay banafits to only those with a Master's degree. It doesn't really make sense, but standing out from the crowd can work against you.
  6. Hi I hope this is the right section... I'm a computer science student from Poland. I was looking into studying abroad and I hope to get to know more. I'm currently doing my Engineer's degree (equivalent of Bachelor). I might have some questions in the future, now I'm still taking a look around the forum. My only question so far is if you have any tips how to go about my degree lasting 3.5 years, so not compatible with when most Master's degrees abroad begin. I'd have to wait half a year. Or wait another year and do a double Master's degree, but I'm not sure if that pays off. Have a nice day
