2024 Canada Prep & Admissions SLP Thread
15itspossibleslp replied to SLPinBC's topic in Speech-Language Pathology Forum
Hello everyone, I saw this thread and just wanted to post and help out for anyone needed some guidance and tips on how they can curate their application. I am a first year S-LP student at the University of Alberta! Send me a message or a comment for any questions you all have. I understand the stress of this application, but I would say do it one at a time, start something bit by bit as early as possible -

Hello, I am just wondering if any SLP students here who finished the S-LP program or already in the program, I am hoping to ask for any help, tips, study advice, and any good strategies to use for studying in grad school. Also, it would be helpful to hear any of your experience about the U of A program and any help or notes, resources that are found online would be beneficial for studying? Thank you very much! -

I understand this fully as I am someone that applied for two years and go rejected from 5 schools, it can be extremely daunting. I recommend maybe apply to UBC, U of A too. I got in this year (year three of applying ) and I got in to to u of a, and definitely what strengthened my application was my volunteer and relevant experiences. I also made sure that my goals and previous experiences aligns with the school's values. My GPA is subpar actually but other factors on my application I made sure it is very good and with good detail of my activities. I can help you write the letter of intent, or any further tips and advice. Message me whenever . -

I am on a similar situation, my life feels like it was on hold for a few years now because of SLP apps. I understand the confusion of where you should head your life. I also applied to a research position that is 1 year contract and I did not expect to actually get the job. I will be working with amazing doctors in the research area and I will feel so bad to bail on them too, but I had to find something this year in case SLP won't go through. So many quick decision making I have to consider too. Don't worry I feel many of us have similar experiences. Whatever happens I hope it is all for the best! -

It is on the portal where you click the 2023 admissions at the top left? It has the yellow boxes that shows the progress. -

I am not completely sure of this, but when I attended the OASIS info for SLP application, they said after January 15th there is a 7-day extension to submit the application. But you can email them if you want to double check -

Also, another question for anyone that applied to U of A, did you put the marksheet as the first page of the document on the transcript section? or does it matter how it is uploaded? Thank you very much! -

Thank you for your response! For me though, I did not put in my credit card information yet, still opening the processing checkout. I am glad to know it is just system buffer and not my computer. But thank you I hope my technical difficulty will work soon. -

Hi there, I emailed csd U of A if they are done releasing the offers, they said they are not done yet informing all students. It will all be sent out mid-late April.. I am not sure though if it is acceptances, waitlists, or rejections.. they were a little vague- 1,373 replies
