Hello everyone, I am wondering if anyone understands how U of A calculate the sGPAs? Also my courses are from U of M with a 4.5 scale, how would they convert it to the U of A 4.0 scale. Thank you very much!- 1,373 replies

Hi everyone just wondering for those who have tried to apply at U of Alberta, for the prerequisites is it okay to take a course that is ongoing especially a spring course? My situation is that I am planning to apply for Fall 2022 intake in which the deadline for the application will probably be in January 2022, I need one prerequisite that is offered in the Fall 2021 and Spring 2022, I think I want to take it in Spring 2022, how would this affect my prerequisites when the application and acceptance begins, since this class might finish in June 2022. Thank you!- 1,803 replies

Hello everyone, I am wondering if U of Alberta rounds up the sGPA calculation or do they use two decimal places. Because when I tried to use their GPA calculator it just rounds up, I am not sure if thats just the system or it is different once you apply. Also, do you guys think U of Alberta heavily considers sGPA? I might be at around 3.5- 3.6 when I finish this fall before the next application. Is this a good enough GPA? Thank you!- 1,803 replies

Yes they just missed some courses, but yeah I guess since 4.0 scale is not the scale of my school hence the adjustment. But thank you!- 1,803 replies

I I asked SAM because they had an error on the calculations they did not include my 4th year fall semester which was my concern previously and I also have regarded that concern here in the previous post. But it is still quite low overall since the 4.0 scale have adjusted everything. So i was wondering if Western or Mcmaster have a different scale when GPA is calculated.- 1,803 replies

Hi everyone, just wondering if Universities have their own gpa criteria too or do they just use the ORPAS gpa? Its just that my school is on a 4.5 scale and my gpa went down a bit on a 4.0 scale. I got my sgpa corrected and got it adjusted on ORPAS so just wondering about how universities look at gpa. Thank you!- 1,803 replies

I agree, I was very confused too, and felt saddened about my hard work on my last few semesters because it was already the time that I realized I want to be an SLP. I tried to boost my GPA during my 4th year but it was not really taken into account.- 1,803 replies

Thank you very much, that is actually really helpful, I understand it now slowly on how they calculate it. I just find it weird on why they do the average of an entire year from your earlier years if they look for your last 60 credit hours. Its just that I have poor grades from my earlier years and did quite well on my recent ones but it was not included and did the average of my earlier year. But I appreciate your response and all the best! :))- 1,803 replies

Hi everyone, I just want to ask if ORPAS gpa is the gpa that is considered by the universities, or is there a university criteria for GPAs as well? I am from u of Manitoba and our scale is different and therefore my GPA was scaled lower in the ORPAS. I also realized they did not take my 2019 fall term and summer 2019, but calculated my 2018 instead, I am confused on how they actually calculate the last 60 credit hours.. I am quite worried about it. thank you!- 1,803 replies

Hello everyone so glad to see the SLP 2021 Canadian Uni thread! I am also planning to apply at McMaster and Western for Sept 2021. I am concerned with the letter of intent and also GPA if it is competitive enough I probably have around 3.4 for sub gpa, but my volunteer, background and prerequisites GPA are really good I believe. Any tips for writing a good letter? Or if anyone knows who got in with a low GPA and what they could do to offset it? Thank you very much!!- 1,803 replies

Good morning everyone! new in this forum. I'm an undergraduate at the university of Manitoba hoping to apply for the slp program in Western University. Just wondering how they actually calculate the subGPA? I was confused with the "10 full year" courses where they will base off the calculation of the GPA. Thank you! and if there is anyone here who is applying or got accepted at Western I would like to ask for tips and insights in what made you a successful candidate. I am also trying out other universities but western is my dream. Thank you!
