  1. @Gha456 @bostonorseattle UW's program looks really basic to me. There's not much flexibility in taking elective courses and there's no advance math classes. Even though UPenn's program is newer, it gives students the chance of pick certain focuses. Students can choose to go towards advanced math classes and develop proficiency in a domain such as biomedicine and social sciences. If I had to choose between UW and UPenn, I'd choose UPenn. Harvard's program is also new. It's curriculum also looks quite generic to me with nothing standing out. I would say that Harvard and UPenn are both stronger than UW, but it would be a tough call to choose between Harvard and UPenn. I like UPenn's flexible program more, but you can't really beat the Harvard name. I'm personally leaning towards UPenn myself.
  2. @hellobello @sotos 5 non-technical questions. You have two tries per question, so I wouldn't sweat it.
  3. Got an admit from NYU. Wonder why they haven't sent out an email yet. How good is the program compared to UPenn's? I like how flexible UPenn's program is, but would like to receive any advice. Thanks!
  4. @throwaway12345 Congrats on your admit! I'm waiting to hear back from NYU myself. When did you submit your application?
  5. @Bulmicoa No questions are technical (ie: you won't be expected to code). Also, you have two tries to answer each question so that gives a lot of leeway. I wouldn't stress it.
  6. @GeorgiaTechPhd I got the interview request. To answer your question - yes @priya123 Yes Jan 22 was the deadline for Fall 2020
  7. I just got an interview invite for Columbia that's due by 3/3. It looks like Columbia's doing interviews in waves.
  8. Someone in the results page talked to an admissions officer at Columbia and said that not everyone who gets in will do an interview. Looks like there's hope then!
  9. @S_Ashleigh Congrats on your acceptances! I didn't apply to Northwestern for personal reasons, but its program is quite strong. I would only choose Columbia because of its location in NYC but if that doesn't matter with you, Northwestern's a great program - class size of 40, successful alums, etc. edit: grammar
  10. @Bulmicoa I'm not completely sure about who gets interviewed, but it looks like several others got an interview with Columbia about an hour ago. I haven't received anything myself. ? I read that there's some technical questions but I don't know the details
  11. @Bulmicoa Columbia's results weren't released until early April last year. I wouldn't expect a response from them until then.
  12. @Haoyun Most of the decisions on the results page were acceptances on Jan 15 which for people who applied by the early deadline. It looks like UPenn is now doing rolling admissions by releasing new decisions every Friday for those who applied after.
  13. @Haoyun Not all schools ask for interviews - I know that Upenn and NYU don't
  14. It looks like people who got accepted to Harvard got an informal email today. If you didn't get one, I think it's safe to assume you were rejected. (I didn't get an email either). Formal results should be coming out soon.
  15. @cpabal It wasn't very technical at all. Questions were on "big picture" concepts rather than specific math problems and coding questions like those on Leetcode. I also knew I screwed up a bit on some of the questions but the interviewer was really nice and I was just accepted today so I wouldn't stress too much about it.
  16. Accepted to University of Pennsylvania's MSE in Data Science program today
  17. Saw there wasn't a thread for DS masters applicants this year yet. Feel free to share any information! My info: Applied: Stanford MS in Computer Science (planning to specialize in info management and analytics) USC MS in Computer Science (Data Science emphasis) University of Pennsylvania MS in Data Science Harvard MS in Data Science NYU MS in Data Science Columbia MS in Data Science Interviewing: University of San Francisco MS in Data Science (Has anyone gone though the interview and is willing to share their experience?) Accepted: USC MS in Applied Data Science (I heard back on Dec 15, which is surprisingly early)
  18. Is it necessary to contact professor for MS in data science programs? Given that these are mostly professional masters I don't think it's necessary?
