Hi guys!!! Been awhile since I've posted, but I wanted to say congratulations to everyone!!!
I received my acceptances to NYU and BU last week
It was especially rewarding because I was seriously starting to doubt my chances, but NYU was my top choice!!!
The only disappointing thing is that BU didn't offer any scholarships, and the one NYU offered was quite low. I could probably make it with loans, but I would rather take out as few as possible. Does anyone know the process of requesting a reevaluation from either of these schools?
Also, I'm still waiting to hear back from PSU and UW, but BU wants a decision by March 4th. How would I go about asking for an extension??
Thank you!!!!

Just submitted my deposit for Columbia! Ah! See some of you there in the fall ?
question- how long after you submitted your deposit did you receive your student ID, other enrollment information, etc? I just got an email confirming that my admissions response was received. I haven’t gotten any confirmation of my deposit yet but I only submitted it a few hours ago.
Tagging @SWColumbia ?

Hey! I am interested in school social work as well, particularly in urban communities where mental health resources may not be accessible in schools. What drew me to Columbia rather than NYU was their research capabilities. I did a ton of digging on their professors and research work done by them, and there are a lot of interesting and exciting initiatives happening around school-based discrimination and other relevant issues.
NYU has great clinical capacities, but I think CU offers a more wholistic balance between macro while still offering a ton of clinical training opportunities (ie their DBT program). Personally, I think it is important to be macro and policy aware even if you are planning on doing clinical, micro work, especially if you are working with historically underserved communities.

Just had my interview with Bryn Mawr, and it seemed to go really well! She was very relaxed and ended the interview by asking what do I do outside of social work. She then said she’d write up her report and then turn it over to the admissions committee and I should know by next week.

Hi all!
I've been reading this thread since the fall and wanted to hop on and actually share my thoughts! I only applied to NYU and Columbia and was accepted to both! Im having a really difficult time deciding which program. I received very similar scholarships, so I'm even more torn. I'm hoping to either be a school based social worker, child welfare or work within juvenile detention centers. I'm not sure what my ideal job would be, I just know I am very interested in working with youth and using trauma informed care. If anyone has any tips or insight, Id love to hear it. Also!! I went to University of Denver for undergrad, I took a few classes in the school of social work. So if anyone has any questions about the school/campus or Denver in general, Id love to chat!! Feel free to send me a PM! Thanks

I am officially offically going to BC this Fall!!! I just submitted my deposit and my response form!! And I am so looking forward to meeting everyone who will be attending BC in the Fall too ! I am the first in my family to have went to college let alone get a master's and then the only one in my friend group currently pursuing a master's. This forum has helped me sooo much with my anxiety about this whole process lol it felt good to know other people were going through the same things as me when no one near me was and you are all sooo amazing !! I wish I found this forum earlier when I first started going through the application process, but I am glad I found it when I did ,everyone here is going to do such amazing things in this world and congratulations to everyone who has heard back from their schools and made their decisions and the absolute best of luck to everyone that is still waiting to hear back, you got this !!!

No problem at all! Of course I'm a little biased because I left Boston for you New York, but if you have any other specific questions, feel free to PM me

Thank you so much. Since the two schools are essentially equal for me, I feel that I can't go wrong with either. However, the atmosphere and diversity of the location is very important to me. I have not heard from anyone yet that has been able to directly compare Boston and NYC, so I really value your opinion. If you have any other strong opinions on either location I would love to hear more. Thank you so much for your insight--- and congratulations to you as well!

They have an accepted students reception on March 2nd, and admitted students day in NYC, SF, and LA, on 4/4, 4/15, and 4/17, respectively
I don't know a ton about BC's Social Work, but I grew up in the area (my grandparents practically live on the campus!) and moved to NYC in 2015, so I can speak a bit to living in both places, although I'm a bit biased towards NYC. Boston is really quaint and has a strong education culture, due to having a high concentration of universities. There are also a ton of young students and working professionals, so despite being a historical city, it feels young. However, it really lacks diversity and culture, especially compared to New York, and Newton (the suburb) feels this even more so. I also was surprised that there isn't a huge difference in the cost of living between NYC and Boston. Congrats on having two really excellent options!

Thank you! I'm shocked. I'm from a small town in western Kansas that no one has heard of, with the worst funding in the state. In my town, everyone goes to the hometown college and it was a big deal to even move 3 hours away. My mom sobbed when she found out I got in. She had me really young and gave up her education for me. I feel overwhelmingly grateful today.
