Hi all!
Reading about everyone's GRE concerns made me want to ask what you guys think about my situation. On the first exam, I got V 159 (83%), Q 167 (90%), AWA 3.5 (39%). I did not worry at all about the essay score so that came as a huge surprise, so I took a second exam asap and got V 155 (68%), Q same, AWA 4.0 (57%). I figured that I suck at standardized writing under 30 mins.
- Undergrad GPA 3.5 from one of the more competitive schools
- 3 co-author publications, 1 first-author manuscript in progress (will submit as academic writing sample)
- Have extensive research experience from working at a psych lab for 3 years since graduating in 2016
- 3 letter writers explicitly promised strong letters for me
And now I am contemplating on which set of scores to report...I initially thought of going with the first set because I truly believe that my writing materials and letters will show my true writing skills. However, I am also wondering if going with the second set and looking rather mediocre overall (than below-average for writing) may be better...What do you guys think!?
