University of Toronto Applicants MSW 2021
Empathymatters replied to Empathymatters's topic in Waiting it Out
Thanks everyone for joining this group! It is a really tough time waiting right now so it helps knowing other people are in the same boat. -
Hey everyone, I just came up with another idea which is to post anything related to U of T in this group, that way we won't bombard everyone who isn't interested in U of T with our comments since there's so many! lol And the amount of people that will follow this group could potentially indicate the amount of people that applied? Hopefully this will work!

This is a support group for people who have applied to University of Toronto for the Social Work program!
-
Thanks for letting me know! I didn't know there was a limit to liking comments lol
-
This might sound stupid, but to test my theory, could whoever applied to U of T like this comment? I know that there are probably some people who applied to U of T that aren't on here but this might just give us a ballpark?
-
I wonder if U of T is rolling out admissions based on their top choices and then tomorrow they will start all over again from A-Z? Just a thought that gives me a slight amount of hope.
-
I am curious about if the people that got in always got notified through these 3 at the same time also.
-
I feel that too @matty16 I thought that I would hear back by now since my last name starts with a C. I hope this doesn't mean that I am rejected or waitlisted.?
-
Congrats! Is this Ontario time?
-
Me too... crossing my fingers
-
Congrats!! Do you mind sharing about your experience?
-
I feel like it's still very possible for it to go out on a Thursday or a Friday unless it is a holiday.

I wonder when the schools would announce if they are going back to in-person learning...My guess for Ontario at least is that it would probably be online for the Fall and regular, in-person for the winter. Does anyone else have some insight on this? This uncertainty around the situation of being accepted or not is one thing, but if and when I would have to move to a new city and find a place is another anxiety-provoking aspect of this process.

Has anyone on this forum applied to a MSW last year and was able to defer their acceptance to start this coming September? I wonder if the universities are allowed to do that and if they cap it to a certain amount? If so, then would it affect the amount of students that are admitted that have applied for this year?
-
Yes she said we will know by mid-April....(I am hoping in March though)
-
Yes, I just tried calling this number: 416 978 6314 and it went to Angela's voicemail. Email might be the better option to reach them, I will update you again when I hear back.
-
me too.. I am thinking about calling or emailing them tomorrow to ask when they will give offers out.
-
I did not get into any of the programs, I was meaning to ask about other people's experiences with the programs!
-
Hey there, I would love to hear more about the student perspective of both the 2 year MSW at WLU and the HBSW program... are any of you are still open to answering questions?
-
Hey there, what kind of experience and education did you have? And do you have any insights or guidance to provide for the overall application and statement questions for UofT?
-
Hey I would love to know how your experience at Wilfred Laurier was. Did you do the online or in-person program, and what qualifications did you have to get into these programs?
-
How was this program overall, and what qualifications did you have that got you admitted?
-
Hey thanks for the reply. I assume this the part-time program that people have been referring to? https://online.wlu.ca/master-social-work It says that it can be completed as fast as 2.67 years! That seems very quick for a part-time program for someone who doesn't have a BSW already...now I see why it's competitive. I was looking at their in-person program through this link: https://www.wlu.ca/programs/social-work/graduate/social-work-msw/index.html I want to apply to their MSW two-year program (full-time) since I have an undergrad degree in Psychology and not Social Work. It mentions under the requirements that 'two or more years of experience would be considered an asset'. At this point I have only about a year of work experience, since I only graduated from my program a year ago. Does anyone have experience applying to this program? I am curious if this program has similar acceptance rates as the online one (only accepts students with many years of experience).

Is this (4- 20 year experience) referring to the Wilfred Laurier MSW full time online program?
