Marshall/Rhodes Scholarship 2021 Waiting Thread

@primsusMy university holds mocks - which are over zoom. But for the virtual engagement will be odd for sure. How do you know that is how they are organizing it (although it seems likely that's how they'll do it)? Did your advisor tell you? -
Undergrad - Bioengineering; Offered Award | E/E, E/E Did anyone else only get 2 reviews? ...kinda confused if 3 is standard

Bioengineering/Biomedical Engineering Applications for 2020 Admission

Also got the MIT BE acceptance today! @2020bioeng I'm not sure if everyone got theirs today. Maybe doing batches? I know mine was sent to me only and there were ~40 people interviewed, so maybe its just a matter of time. -

@Bernt I suspect they will be giving offers to 35ish people (or nearly everyone) then to get a matriculation in that range. See you in March! -

Also received an interview for MIT BE yesterday. Only one interview weekend. I think they will continue to send them throughout january. Not sure though. About a week ago before the official notifications yesterday, I received an email from a professor notifying me. -
Still nothing. It looks like all of the rejections will come in tomorrow. Def update if you get anything!

Thanks. Ya, it looks like it's not good news for those who haven't gotten anything. Does anyone know if anybody actually got a Gates rejection email? If not, I assume all those will come out on the 20th.

They definitely are not notifying by panel nor are they notifying by Mphil/PhD. So, I assume we are on a waitlist or they are sending them out in batches. I just relooked at their website and it says that "all applicants notified ----- December 20, 2019"

A friend of mine got an interview on 12/6 for biological sciences. He applied for a PhD and also noted that people got rejection emails. So maybe everyone that didn't get anything is either an MPhil (if they separated notifications between PhD and MPhil) or on a waitlist. For those who got a notification - were you a PhD or MPhil applicant? and for those who didn't get anything - same question.

Posted in a few other admissions channels, so the template might be slightly off. But here it goes (I'm new to grad cafe, so any comments are encouraged!): Undergrad Institution (approx. rank/reputation in STEM): Top 5 engineering Major(s): Bioengineering (Synthetic Biology) Minor(s): None GPA in Major: The interpretation of this is so broad...so I'll leave this blank. Around the same as overall. Overall GPA: 3.84/4.00 Demographics/Background: Asian GRE Scores: high enough (>90% for both Verbal/Math) LOR: 3 super strong letters. - One from main research PI at home institution, One from research coadvisor who also taught me in a graduate course, One from a summer research PI Research Experience: - 3.5 years in the same lab - 1 summer research position in a prestigious program Publications/Abstracts/Presentations: - Second author publication in Nature (not a Nature subjournal) - First author manuscript in prep (submitting soon); another Second author manuscript In Prep - 1 oral presentation; 2 poster presentations (1 campus, 1 international) Awards/Honors/Recognitions: - Rhodes and Marshall Scholarship Finalist (2019) - Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship (2019) - Deans List multiple times - Summer Research Fellowships/grants - Honor Societies (TBP and the like) - Eagle Scout (not so pertinent here) - Amgen scholarship (but declined it...so I guess this doesn't count) Fellowships/Funding: - Applied for NSF-GRFP (pending) - Other: Applied for Churchill and Gates-Cambridge Scholarships (pending) Pertinent Activities or Jobs: - a ton of research stuff =D - Facilitate/organize a mentorship program/competition for high school students as well as mentor low-resource schools in STEM - I'm a coach for my local swimming group and established a local running group for cancer survivors (which I also coach) Other Miscellaneous Accomplishments: - Went to world-championships/nationals for a couple sports (can discuss if want to) and other major competitions/adventures - State convention pianist and other music stuff Anything else in your application that might matter (faculty connections, etc.): - Not sure, will update if I think of something Research Interests: - Synthetic biology and genetic engineering technologies Institutions/Programs: I know it's risky, but I'm taking the approach that if I don't get anything, a Gap year sounds good for dedicated research and some travel! MIT | Bioengineering Harvard | Chemical Biology University of Cambridge | Biological Sciences (Accepted to Cambridge and a Lab, awaiting funding offers. Fingers crossed!) Also a biological sciences applicant who hasn't heard anything. Conditional Acceptance on 11/6. What time in the morning/afternoon/evening did people hear back from them for social/arts panels?
