Of course they’re gentler now, would you want to be verbally abused by your classmates and teachers every time you brought something in? If you say yes, then you can f*ck off. As an abuse survivor, that’s not okay. I wasn’t expecting you to shit on Donald Trump, but okay sure. You can have truth and support at the same time, you don’t need to sacrifice one to get the other. This ain’t the place to review work with each other, we’re here for support. If you aren’t, leave. I do enjoy the words “ludicrously spongey” together. You finally typed up something interesting instead of your usual garbage.

Well, when you invent time travel let me know, because I got serious beef with a sh*t ton of people. And I hope you realize that people say nice things because we’re only human. Getting torn down over and over again for your writing (the thing you’ve spent days slaving over) is hard and needless. If we stay civil and acknowledge the good in addition to the bad, that’s what writing workshops are about these days.

I know back in the day workshops were an “eat or get eaten” kind of thing. But most of them aren’t like that now.

Nah, the second version isn’t hard to read. It’s just when you’re talking to other people, you don’t sound like a human being. I’ve been trying to tell you that, but you don’t pick up hints at all.

How do you think the rest of us feel when we have to decode what you’re saying?

My current mood

Well, there are four of us telling you that your messages are incoherent. That’s not four of us lacking reading comprehension skills; it’s definitely you not forming coherent thoughts. I don’t want to offend anyone with the “word salad” bit btw. I “word salad” when I talk sometimes, it’s part of my illness. That’s why I like writing, I can edit it before anyone sees it.

I don’t know what happened, but the repeated messages aren’t my favorite. This new person sounds similar to M*rshall, but if someone threw his posts in a food processor then tried to put the pieces back together into something coherent...I’m not trying to be mean, but reading through this person’s latest post is like looking at the concept of “Word Salad”...

I’ve read some Paige Lewis but I haven’t gotten their book yet. I’m still reading through Jericho Brown, I haven’t been able to finish it because emotions. I’ll also recommend Women Poets: from Antiquity to Now (It’s not being made anymore so you’ll have to get it online). Sunset in a Spider Web, ancient Korean poetry (also not being made anymore). And Healing the Divide: Poems of Kindness and Connection (Still in production haha)

Send an email with the right sample attached and ask really really nicely to see if they’ll replace it. I did that with a school last year and they let me swap it. Stay calm and do it as soon as you can.

Where did you see Rutgers Newark extended deadline and GRE waive? I can’t find it anywhere on the website. I wanna apply really bad, but I just don’t want to spend money for a rejection letter. Also, apparently sunglasses help me read slightly better. (Also I’m getting an eye appointment once the office can find a emergency spot for me.) Thanks for caring about my eyes ❤️

I’ll probably be one of the last ones to finish applications. My vision these past few days has gotten noticeably worse, and staying offline isn’t helping. I’m not asking for prayers or pity, I just want this little community we got to come together, stay safe, and keep being awesome. I’m planning on seeing an optometrist soon, because typing this has taken me around 30-ish minutes.

Y’ALL, if you happen to apply to U New Orleans before January 2nd, they’ll waive your application fee. I saw that, and was so motivated that I finished the application in under an hour. Amazing, I’m so happy I looked at their website today. I cut Rutgers from my list because I can’t afford everything I need next month, plus a 70 dollar app fee on top of that.

Shout out to my former poetry professor, Rick, who went above and beyond to make sure his recommendation letter got in my file at Minnesota. He made phone calls, and emails for days until he got ahold of the program coordinator who finally got the file uploaded. Tell your recommenders how much their support means to you.
