  1. YES ?. The hardest part for me is not knowing when I will hear from U of A. At least I know the date the other schools are sending out their offers!
  2. Thank you for sharing!! Hope we both get in!!
  3. Anyone care to share their sub-GPAs from ORPAS?? Or know what the average is for applicants accepted to Western? I feel like mine is somewhere around average (nothing outstanding but not too bad?) 3.61. Hopefully my other experiences help me stand out! Just curious to what everyone is going in with.
  4. Thank you so much!! Good luck to you too ? Now we wait!
  5. Thank you!! He ended up submitting it last night thankfully. He did say that on the link they sent him it said his reference was due by Feb. 3 and said it's not uncommon for grad schools to give the students and the referees different due dates apparently? I'm not sure on that matter but just thankful it's all done and taken care of now!

  7. I'm so nervous! STILL waiting on my last reference to submit his letter for U of A. I told him it had to be submitted by Jan. 29 (just to be on the safe side), I even reminded him a week beforehand and he responded saying that he's got it all under control and not to worry. It's almost Feb. 1 (the due date) and he still hasn't submitted. He's already written one for me because he submitted one for me in early January for Western, so I don't know why he can't just submit it!! I thought maybe the link U of A sent him had the actual due date on it and maybe that's why he hasn't submitted yet, but I'm not sure. I hate having to nag him but I even got a message from U of A today to follow up with him to make sure it gets submitted or my application won't be reviewed. Sometimes he responds to my emails within 30 minutes, and sometimes he takes a week to respond. I'm so nervous because I don't even know WHEN he's going to open my email. Fingers crossed. ?
  8. I think "reference initiated" means they have opened the link/started their form but have not submitted it yet. Once it has been submitted, it will change to "reference submitted"
  9. Nevermind, I guess I was just too eager and needed to wait a little bit for it all to be processed. Got it working now!
  10. Anyone know how I can access my Western email? I activated my Western Identity as it explained in the email I received with my ID number, and after all the setup process was done and I was assigned a Western email, it also said it sent an email to my new Western email address. I see that it is also listed in my information in my account and that all correspondence regarding an admission decision will be made through this. However, I tried to add this email account to my mail but unsure what the password would be? I tried the password I assigned to my Western account as well as my ID and nothing seems to work. Is there a different way to log in to my email or how do I check this email account? Thanks!
  11. Hi! I also have my BA in psychology and am just applying to start SLP in September. I would say you could reach out to some SLPs in your area to get some volunteer experience so that you know what you're getting into and have a better idea of what to expect if you don't already, and that would give you good experience to put on your applications too to make you stand out from others! It also depends where you want to go to school or where you live! I'm in Canada so there's not too many options to choose from which makes it pretty easy to narrow down. You can even start by searching "speech-language pathology in [state]" to see which schools offer it in whichever states you were interested in. From there, each school has their own perquisites. Some schools don't require anything at all, while some have specific courses you need to have taken and even certain grades in each of those courses. Start by making a list of the prerequisites and see if there are any schools you can already fulfill or are just short by a couple classes. Then you can research where to take them, perhaps online through distance learning or somewhere in your area. It's hard to answer this question as it depends so much on which schools you are interested in!
  12. Thank you!! This was before I had submitted my application so I didn't have a reference number because I think you only get one once you submit? Anyways it's all good now!
  13. Thanks for your input! I did end up contacting Western and they said they would grant me a late submission, I just needed to send my full name, email, ORPAS username and ID #? Anyone know where to find your ID # for ORPAS? I emailed back asking where to find that but haven’t gotten a reply yet.
  14. I really screwed up. I was applying to McMaster and Western. First, I knew the deadline was at 11:59 but I stupidly forgot about the time difference and Ontario is 3 hours ahead of BC. So I started scrambling with a loss of 3 hours I thought I had to polish my application. I finally finished writing my Letter of Intent for ORPAS (Western) about 10 mins before the deadline (I know, huge procrastination and I'm beating myself up for it now). When I originally wrote it, I thought it had to be maximum 3000 words and I was feeling pretty satisfied and proud of my 1400 word letter. When I went to paste it in ORPAS I realized I was 6400 characters over the limit and realized it said maximum 3000 CHARACTERS not words. So I started quickly scrambling to delete things but it was no use. It was impossible to go from 2 pages to 2 paragraphs with the few minutes I had left. So I decided to remove Western off my application completely and just apply to McMaster since they don't require a LOI. I went to go submit and it was too late. It was 11:59 exactly and applications had closed. Anyone with experience or similar situation know if I call ORPAS in the morning, if they ever make any exceptions? Is there any hope or possibility they will let me submit late?
  15. Hey everyone!! I'm so glad to see a thread for this year's application process! I'm applying to U of A (first choice), McMaster, and Western. I'm trying to rank McMaster vs. Western (Hamilton vs. London) which I would prefer to go to out of those two! I haven't been to either cities before. Can anyone give pros/cons of the schools and the cities? Thanks!
