  1. Hi! I just submitted the application now! Hows yours coming along??
  2. oh awesome!! Finally someone else haha. The app is going okay. Unlike the MSW the statement doesn't have specific questions to answer, so having a hard time structuring it and figuring out what I want to include in it. I'm going to DM you
  3. Hi! Is anyone else who is applying to MSW programs also applying to the OISE MEd in counselling psychology, counselling and psychotherapy field?? I would love to touch base with you!! Feel free to message me directly. I am also applying to UofT's 2 year MSW! How is everyone's applications going so far? Good luck everyone
  4. Hi! Is anyone here applying to OISE MEd in counselling and psychotherapy?
  5. I have messaged you Does anyone have any experience with Dal's post-degree BSW? Or is anyone applying to it?
  6. Hey It was for the Laurier online part-time program.
  7. Hi Everyone! I need advice. I have been out of uni since 2014, so 6 years. I have kept touch with a prof. I am having second thoughts about using her as a reference just because of the gap in time since she has really seen my work. I mean she can speak to my research specialization and she is the chair of the program so it is a valuable reference I believe. Just looking for others opinions! I have been working in the field for a few years now so would 3 professional references be better? Any thoughts appreciated
  8. Is anyone who is applying to the Masters of Counselling hoping to register within the CRPO? I reached out the CRPO to see if the program was accepted and they said that some registrants have completed that program but they have a background in psych? I was a bit confused and asked for clarification.
  9. Hi! I was wondering if anyone on this thread has applied to the Dal online BSW in the past or is in it? I have a couple questions about admissions and how competitive the program is. Thank you!!
  10. Hi there! Thanks for sharing your experience. Firstly, I would suggest to apply to both MSW and post-degree BSW's. You never know which ones you will get into/not get into but you want to cover your bases! (this is what I am doing this year) It sounds like you have great experience! I would reach out to uni profs now and let them know that you are applying to programs shortly and were wondering if you could use them as a reference. Don't feel bad, it is a BIG part of their jobs. YES, include your uni practicum. ALL experience is good experience. Some apps allow you to showcase all experience and some ask for purely social service experience (which it sounds like you have quite a bit!). Your degree is very relevant. My suggestion to you is apply broadly, focus on your written statements and references and you will get in Sending you all the vibes in your journey!
  11. Hi everyone! I will be applying to the 2 year MSW at UofT for fall 2021. I have a B in my last years senior credits and a B+ in research methods. Has anyone here been accepted to the program with these grades? I know I meet the cut-off requirements but still with the program being as competitive as it is I am a little worried. Would anyone suggest taking another research course in hopes of getting an A? I have about 4 years work experience working with refugee children and youth and various international and local volunteer positions. Any input is appreciated!
  12. Hi Everyone! I will be applying to the non-bsw 2 year MSW at UofT. I received a B+ in an approved research methods course. Does anyone suggest maybe taking an Athabasca research course to upgrade? Has anyone done this? Will UofT look at the latest grade? Thanks!
  13. Hi! Did you complete your BSW online at Dal? I am looking into online BSW options incase I don't get into the MSW. Thanks!
  14. Our applications are generally the same. Good luck to you as well Ya, very diverse applicants. What is your experience??
  15. If you don't mind me asking, where did you complete your post-degree BSW?
  16. I felt good about it. When I talked to admissions she stated that most people have over 4 years of experience and some like 20 years. I am applying to Jan 2021 start date. Are you advanced standing?
  17. Hi! Thanks for starting this forum I will be applying to non-bsw MSW programs and post-degree online BSW programs for fall 2021. I will be applying to UofT 2 year MSW, Laurier online part-time MSW, Dal's distance post-degree BSW, Univ. of Manitoba post-degree online BSW and Univ. of Vic. post-degree online BSW. I applied to UofT straight out of my undergrad in 2014 and most recently Laurier's online part-time program for May 2020 start date, of course with no success. I graduated my undergrad with a degree in Global Studies from Laurier and since I have over 3 years experience working directly with newcomer children and youth and for over a year I have been working with refugee children and youth, trauma counselling. I completed an international practicum as well as different volunteer experiences through the years. My cgpa is low and my last year senior classes (for UofT) is a B and my research a B+. My grades aren't competitive but I am trying my luck as maybe my experience, statement and references will be enough. If not that's why I am trying to cover my bases with all the BSW programs. Fingers crossed and here's to everyone over the next while as we complete our applications and get to know each other. Can't wait to hear from all the future applicants.
  18. Hello! I would love to speak to someone to has been accepted to the Dalhousie online post-degree BSW program. They require a B- for admission, and I have that but wondering how competitive the program is to get into. I have over 4 years experience working with newcomer children and youth directly. Thanks to anyone who can comment!
  19. I was told by admissions they have around 85 spots and 260 applicants for the online program. I am worried because I just reach the B- in the last 2 years of my undergrad (minimum requirement) however I have four years experience working in the field. She also said they are looking for a balance between academics, statement, experience and references. Fingers crossed to you all. I will be applying for 2021, and other MSW programs. Have any of you looked into UManitobas online BSW?
  20. Hi! Thought I would join the conversation! I have applied to two MSW programs previously with no success. My gpa is rather low. I thought about applying to the Dal online BSW. I think it is a good option to improve my grades and go into an advanced standing MSW. I wonder how competitive the Dal BSW is.
  21. Congrats!! Do you mind sharing your experience??
  22. Hey! I didn't know about the McMaster program either! I wonder if the program fits regulations under CRPO?
  23. Has anyone heard from the Laurier part time online program??
  24. Congrats!! Are you advanced standing?
