MSW2020lm replied to Toughcook1e's topic in Waiting it Out
Hey! When you were waitlisted last year did they give any advice about how to become a more competitive applicant? or was it just a straight decision with no explanation. Thanks in advance!!- 470 replies

You too!! I wonder when we will start hearing? -
WHATTTT mid April.... I can't. LOL
-
ohhh that makes sense!!
-
Hey there! Ive applied to UofT as well. Can I ask, why did you need to update the transcript?
-
Hi! Fellow Ontarian here. You should look into the Laurier part-time online MSW. You don't need a BSW and your teaching experience may count as previous experience? I would reach out to the admissions coordinator Heres the program: https://online.wlu.ca/master-social-work Oh also, the Windsor MSW program is part-time but in class! Best of luck!!

Mine is also "documents received" still.

Awesome!!

I think this is a great idea! Thanks for organizing. Could be a great place to discuss other programs as well? I will dm you.

Exciting!! for the 2 year MSW at UofT?
-
I think so as well!
-
Good to know, thanks! I wish we knew already haha such a long waiting game.
-
Hi everyone, for the non-bsw UofT 2 year MSW, has anyones application changed to under review yet? Mine still says "documents received". Thanks!
-
Same! I keep checking even though there's still 3 months wait haha Is this your first year applying?
-
Exactly! I feel the same. Hoping for the best. Trying not to keep looking at SGS for updates LOL even though we are months away from decisions.
-
you as well!! How are you feeling about your app?
-
First time applying at UofT! We can keep our fingers crossed!!
-
I am sorry to hear about your references and work load. It must feel nice now that the app is in! I have over 4 years of frontline experience working with refugee children/youth. In that 4 years, 2 of them working with refugee survivors of severe trauma. I felt good about my statement and references BUT the program is so competitive! I have a B+ in my last year of uni and I am worried about it not being competitive enough. If anyone has any insight into people who have been accepted into UofT's 2 year MSW with a B+ or lower let me know pleeeease. Is anyone else going to be applying to Dal's post-degree BSW?? Good luck to all as we wait!
-
That's the best thing you can do, speak truthfully! Is this your first time applying? I wish you good luck
-
Hi everyone! I just finished submitting my app for UofT's 2 year MSW. I feel relieved that it is finally in but starting to stress already about admissions!! How is everyone else feeling about their apps?!!

thoughts on not meeting min requirements
MSW2020lm replied to Kristine's topic in Social Workers Forum
Hi there, I applied to Windsors working professional program with just a couple of decimals off and was told I was not accepted because I did not meet the grade requirement. When I had talked to admission prior to the decision she was very stern about making the grade but I still applied. That is my experience. Not to deter you from applying because hey you just never know. -

Now we wait!! Good luck! -
Hey! in terms of post grad BSWs online, Dalhousie has a full-time and part-time online program! I will be applying this year as well as to UofT's 2 year MSW and OISE MEd counselling psychotherapy. I think I am going to give Laurier's 3 year part time online another try again this year as well. Laurier really does value experience so if you have the experience, which it sounds you do, why not try your luck!! Good luck!!
