  1. I got accepted by McMaster and rejected by Ottawa (MEd Counselling). My interview with McMaster was on Feb 9th. No email notifications were received, and I checked both online portals to find out the results. If anyone is interested in my stats, I am happy to share them. I applied to graduate school three times in total - in 2019, 2020, and 2022. I understand how struggling and anxious we all are at this stage! When getting rejected for the second time, I was super discouraged and started to question myself. Looking back, I am glad I was able to pick myself up. Stay hopeful and believe in yourself even if it may take longer for your hard work to pay off ❤️
  2. So fellows, does anybody consider reapplying this coming November? I am kind of debating as I heard it is not good to apply to the same program in consecutive years unless you can show you have made huge progress within a year. I applied to the program twice in the past. I got waitlisted for my first time and this year I guess it is safe to say I will be rejected. What do you all think? Anybody? Any thoughts on reapplying?
  3. Congrats! If you only plan to be a psychotherapist and stay in Ontario, Uoft is a quicker route. I totally agree with @LiveLovePsych. However, it is MA vs MEd. MA definitely offers a wider range of job opportunities (both clinical and counselling) and MA also benefits further academic study (if you ever want to pursue a doctor degree in psychology). MEd does not have a research component. I think it also depends on your interests in doing research. I did not realize UofT is that more expensive than McGill. I personally believe McGill has a better reputation in psychology, especially in US. If you get accredited in provinces other than Ontario and want to work as a registered psychotherapist in Ontario, you just need to contact CRPO. https://www.crpo.ca/labour-mobility/ I do not know the process very well, but maybe you can check CRPO website. I am sure it won't be a problem.
  4. Fellows, let's review the timeline. A couple of accepted students reported on March 4th. Now we are at the end of March. What has the admission department done during this whole month? Go through a bunch of applications and figure out their waitlisted applicants? The timeline is very suspicious ?
  5. Not sure the total amount of waitlisted students but I have seen four waitlist posts so far
  6. Agreed. We are literally at the end of March and most of us are still waiting for a response.
  7. It is about luck lol! Someone I know was put on waitlist when she applied to MSW at UofT a couple of years ago and she finally got in. However, I was put on waitlist last year and never received another response afterwards, which basically equals a rejection. For a course-based program like MEd, there is not much we can do as there is no professor to connect...
  8. I feel the same! The result does not matter very much to me anymore, and I just want it to end!
  9. @simp4gradschool Thank you and hope all the best on our applications! @Happiness is key Agreed. Only 1 of 3 accepted students posted on the admission result.
