  1. Accepted to SF state's SLP Program! Would love to connect with people in the cohort and start a group chat ( if there isn't one already)
  2. @Kay Marie Hey sorry for the late response. I think the interview went really well but it was my first time doing a group interview. I felt like everyone said everything I wanted to say so I kind of scrambled at the end to find something to say. Still waiting on results so not too sure how well I did. Did you have an interview as well?
  3. I am from California! I applied for : San Jose State, San Francisco State, East Bay State, Portland State University, University of Washington, and University of Texas-Austin I got accepted to Portland State and is currently waitlisted for University of Washington Feel free to message me if you were accepted to Portland !! Has anyone heard anything about their program Im curious!
  4. I have a group interview today for SFSU's master program. From what I've heard, the interview is short and teamwork based. The question is suppose to be fairly easy so I'm nervous I won't have much to say if someone else has made good points already. Any tips??? and if anyone doesn't mind sharing an example of scenarios that we asked? Thank you!
  5. Girl, I feel the same way! I'm currently applying to 9 schools ( because I'm that determined to get into ONE school). The process was very confusing and tedious.. They had the GRE waived so I have a feeling there might be a lot of applicants this year (or because of COVID less people are applying..hope this is the case ). That being said I don't have a GRE score, my GPA is 3.4 in behavioral sciences and im taking completing a second bachelors for speech language pathology ( only 6 classes in but 3.90). SUPER NERVOUS but go us for working this hard. Sending love and support to my future SLPS !
  6. Hi !! It is grad app season and I am STRUGGLING. I need all the help I can get! Writing is not my strong suit and it stressed me out to much that there's so many individual prompts/essay questions. Any tips or suggestions when writing your Statement of Intent, Personal Statement? ALSO I am definitely interested in the education route, should I focus on writing my personal statement tailored for education rather than the medical ?? Or would it be better to be more broad? Am I at a disadvantage if I don't want to pursue medical route? I know a lot of schools are clinical and research focused.
  7. @slptobe! I definitely want to work in the education side and SJSU is my top choice atm! I'll be sure to message you when its time to apply for the Fall! Thank you !!
  8. Hey I'm from San Francisco but went to SJSU for my undergrad. Both cities are very diverse and great to live in! Sf rent is DEFINITELY more expensive than Sj. As for the programs, I am not too sure. I am planning to apply to programs in Fall 2021 and I have a question about SJSU's program for @slptobe! that might be helpful for you as well. I know that the SJSU speech program is a Masters in Education with a concentration in speech. So If you plan on working in the school system and with pediatrics I think this program will be perfect for that. This might be a silly question but my question is do you think the title of it being a Masters in Education rather than a Masters in Speech Pathology matters? Does the program prepare you for all settings (exp. hospital)? I have volunteered at a hospital and I've worked in a special education classroom before and the techniques with both populations are quite different.
  9. @Madi544 Have the grad programs you've applied to accept the class? How do you know? I just want to make sure !! Thank you so much ❤️
  10. Hello!!! I am starting my post bacc in Speech Pathology soon and I read that for the ASHA physical science requirement is now only accepting Chemistry and Physics. I plan on taking Conceptual Physics at a community college. It is different from Intro to Physics... Conceptual physics apparently has less math ( I guess an easier version of physics?) Does anybody know if Conceptual Physics is acceptable or how picky ASHA is with the courses?? ALSO do you think grad schools will look at how I took the easier physics course instead of regular physics or chemistry? and judge...
