  1. If you're considering a career in academia, then I'd suggest the PhD because it allows for more flexibility post graduation. Assuming you don't mind the longer process and the addition of research while in the PhD program. I decided to go for my masters first, thinking I wanted to go the clinical route. I'm so glad I didn't jump into a PsyD immediately because now after a year and a half I love the research I'm doing as well as the prospect of teaching, so I decided on pursuing a PhD over a PsyD.
  2. Yes! I am in a similar situation, accepted a spot at my first choice program this year and now I have no idea what I'm going to do. I knew it was Imposter Syndrome but I also recently had it described to be as an anxiety hangover: I've been so gosh darn stressed the past few months (a year even) that now that I've gotten in that anxiety has no where to go and I feel almost empty. So I've been subconsciously looking for things to stress out over (like getting on grad cafe, for instance lol). Don't get me wrong, I'm still thrilled to have gotten in! But now that the excitement is starting to wane, I've begun to feel that emptiness creep in since this is something I've been anxious about for a long time and that anxiety is now gone. Pretty sure this is a fairly normal thing, and I would also recommend going to talk to someone if that's something you can feasibly seek out.
  3. It's a great sign! Because you're absolutely right, interviews are more about assessing for interpersonal skills and personality fit with the POI than anything else. If you've been invited to an interview it's because you're qualified and now they just want to know what you're like as a person
  4. For UK Clinical or Counseling? Although Clinical has sent out their first round offers, I think they're still finalizing their incoming class and then they'll send out rejections. I don't think Counseling has sent out official offers yet, but it seems as though some POI's have reached out to their first round offers.
  5. Hi everyone! Question: I got an unofficial (email from POI) offer today from my first choice and accepted! I will be waiting for the official email first, but once I have that is it considered good form to reach out to programs I have interviewed at but not heard back from yet to please "remove me from consideration" since I have accepted an offer at another program? Appreciate any advice on how to navigate this. Thanks, and good luck to everyone as those offers start rolling in!
  6. Clinical or Counseling? Edit: just saw you posted on Jan 29. I believe first round offers for Clinical went out Jan 27. If you haven't heard anything yet I'd assume you're a second round offer if the first round falls through, so you're in a holding pattern for now. Good luck!
