  1. I'm rethinking of applying to a few more places especially after seeing Columbia's program. It was never on my radar before and I am definitely worried about the cost but I'm not sure if it's worth applying to them , and to West Virigina Univ because they have a very affordable online option too. It's past priority deadline but not past the final deadline. Thoughts? I'm waiting on interviews (one next week) from Widener, who looks like has a good scholarship package + assistantship positions to help with tuition, and West Chester Univ who also have assistantships and lower tuition (In state, PA).
  2. I realize this is an old post, just wondering how you're liking the program so far!
  3. I have several friends who went to UPenn who told me to steer clear because the price tag was not worth it, and to go where I get the most scholarship/assistantship opportunity. I also was very unimpressed on the phone conversation I had with Penn, and the pretentiousness they had with saying "IF you're offered admission.." every other sentence. That plus my intense fear of being in debt forever, I applied to Widener and West Chester (I'm in-state for PA) as they had the most options for assistantship/scholarship/tuition.
  4. Hi y'all! I'm applying to Widener's MSW on campus program (because they only offer scholarships and assistantships for the in person program) but their online option is my backup. I have a friend who's in the online program and recommended it as well. (Widener is right outside Philly) Hope this helps!
  5. Hi everyone! I have my first interview next week and am freaking out a little! I'm in the Philly area and am originally from NJ, so anyone with questions just let me know. I fully agree with the post a while back detailing the culture/awful housing/and Rutger's not being in a great area, for those interested. I wanted to stay in the area and applied to Widener and West Chester. I decided against Penn at the last minute because of friends who have graduated from the program and felt it was not worth the extremely high price tag. They also were really pretentious on the phone when I was asking questions and kept saying things like "IF you're offered admission.." and ..meh. Widener is my first choice for the trauma clinical focus, and knowing several people who loved it there. West Chester is a backup if they offer a better financial package with assistantship. I applied to assistantships for both as well. I finished applications a few weeks ago, and last week heard back from Widener to choose an interview date (Scheduled for 1/28, eeeep) Stats are 4.0 in sociology with a concentration in deviance, 2 + years experience in research and crisis line intervention Good luck to everyone!
