  1. I am in a similar situation, and I don't think there is an answer to whether having RISD on your resume as opposed to UW Madison (which is a great school btw) will get you better jobs. It will depend on your work, and you should pick the program that will be a better incubator for that. 20 hours a week is a lot, by the way - is that contact hours with students, or are you getting some time for prepping? I know I am not really answering your question - I am on a similar boat but I have a dependent which is inadvertently making the decision easier...
  2. I am hoping they are discussing other models, too - it's my understanding that the students and faculty keep in touch during the semester somewhat? Am I too optimistic?
  3. Yeah, I am seriously considering Bard and hoping they will have the session this summer. I have a job so I am a little more flexible with any change they might decide on, though, which I know is a privilege.
  4. Thanks! that is a good idea. Hahaha indeed
  5. Thank you both!! My agitation is caused by the fact that at the interview I was told interviewees would be contacted within the week. I am about to accept an offer so I want to make sure I am operating on a correct assumption ?
  6. Any news from Columbia Photo? By now I am assuming waitlist/rejection since calls have been made to other disciplines...
  7. Congrats on your RISD acceptance! this was my second year applying and what I learned was most people at top programs apply more than once. I think applying multiple times and trying to see your work as it is seen by a committee is good experience. Waiting is tough, but if you feel like taking on loans is not an option, I would re-apply. I met some people at top programs who had applied 5 years in a row. Good luck!
  8. It depends on the school, but I would say approach it with confidence! You are a candidate that they want and you should assert yourself respectfully. Say you really want to matriculate, and that finances aren't the only factor in a decision, but increasing your award would really enable you to attend that specific institution, your top choice. Offer any documentation of other offers if you have them. If not, address how alleviating your financial burden might make it possible for you/help you excel in the program. I hope this helps.
  9. congratulations! may I ask what discipline? Yeah I've been wondering about this - I got a few hits on my website from New York earlier in the week which made me wonder if they were deliberating... Hoping... I do want to know soon.
  10. did you get an acceptance call after the interview? some of us have been waiting post-interview but we haven't heard anything.
  11. It was the photo department. You might be waitlisted? They said the financial package would come thru the administration this week. Hope you get good news!
  12. Thanks and good luck! It seems like they might still be making their way through the calls. Hope you get good news! Do you have a top choice? I am only waiting to hear from Columbia.
  13. It did - I got the call yesterday too.
  14. It is helpful! I am hoping they haven't sent out all the decisions. Good luck to us both
