  1. Hey - they extended me an offer of admission and I accepted it. Last possible day but I really was excited about it!
  2. Thanks everyone for the support/feedback - I did have the wait listing institution give me a call today at literally the last possible minute. Sometimes things do work out ?
  3. Thank you all for the advice! I decided not to request an extension and opted to pester the wait listed department one more time this morning - hopefully something comes of it by Wednesday.
  4. This is good to know - I'm still considering sending out an email Monday Morning and requesting an extension. Glad to hear someone has done it!
  5. You're killing me @Dwar ? Nah I appreciate the honesty. I mean I know it's possible for them to let me know after the 15th - I mean I'm hoping I can get any sort of unofficial notification even just so I can reject the other offer. It's just not a fun situation to be in and I wish there was a little more clarity on the timelines. I'll likely hang in there and just have to decide what I'm doing on the last day like others ?
  6. I agree - my only real hesitation on asking for an extension was that I'm sure someone is in my boat and I'd hate to do that to them. I emailed the program I'm waiting to hear from. I've let them know I have an offer and need to hear back from them before - I'm just getting no indication that they'll respond to me by the 15th. You make a good point about all schools needing to resolve by the 15th though - gives me a bit more hope that they'll let me know by then.
  7. Hi All - had a predicament and wanted to see if anyone had any thoughts/advice on what to do here. I have an offer from a University with a deadline of next Wednesday (April 15th). It's a good program and I think I would attend if my only choice. I'm also on the wait list for a program that is definitely my top choice. I've emailed the Department head a few times and while they are excited about my application they just haven't gotten back to me yet. It's starting to get close to decision deadlines and I'm not sure what else I can do. Is it rude of me to ask the institution that has extended me an offer to extend the deadline? Is there anything else I can do to give myself time to hear back from the wait listed school? Any and all advice appreciated!
  8. Thanks for the heads up - WashU has stayed in touch with me. I'm hoping for some good news. Best of luck to you with whatever decision you make! ?
  9. I have an offer from one school but am on the waitlist for my top choice. I was pretty transparent with the faculty at the school I'm accepted at. I let them know what I was thinking and asked for their honest feedback. I may have gotten lucky but for the most part people were pretty open and willing to provide their input and recommendations. They were clear that they wanted me there but encouraged me to explore my options and consider all factors before making a decision. One of the professors even offered to give me a call after the visit and follow up. I say all this because I think a lot of departments understand that we have decisions to make and this is a big deal for us. Honestly if a department isn't being respectful of your decisions I would be pretty disappointed and concerned how they'll treat me as a student. I think being honest and inquisitive are never bad things and can only help you!
  10. Is anybody else still waiting to hear something back from U Chicago?
  11. Hi - is anybody here claiming the WashU acceptance off the wait list?
  12. Thank you! Will continue to be relentless with my interest until then ?
  13. Anyone here accepted to WashU that has the visit date? I'm trying to sprinkle in some emails to faculty to reiterate my interest but wanted a date in mind of when I should probably give up.
  14. I responded to the DGS letting them know I was still interested. Is it worth it to reiterate that interest to the faculty I would like to work with as well?
  15. Does anybody have any advice on what to do when you're on the Wait List? I got an email from the DGS at WashU (which I am incredibly excited about potentially attending) and she let me know that I wasn't rejected but she'd let me know over the coming weeks. Is there anything I can be doing in the meantime and is there even a chance that they actually accept people off the Wait List? Appreciate any insight folks have.
  16. Has anybody heard back from UNC? I would've thought acceptances/rejections would've gone out by now.

  18. Hang in there. I see why this is a difficult process and so far my results have no pattern to them. I'm wait listed at WashU but rejected at Brown/Northwestern/Emory. I think the bright side is that since there is no pattern there is always hope that some school will find particular merits in your application. Rooting for you!
  19. Same here - thought I was a really good fit. Guess it just wasn't meant to be.
  20. Anybody in here claiming a Brown acceptance? I thought I saw a few earlier today.
  21. "While we cannot extend to you a firm offer of admission at this time, over the next few weeks, we will develop a clearer picture of the size of our entering class, as well as the parameters of funding opportunities. If we are able to offer you admission, I will contact you." Among some other things that are less important. This sounds like I'm on the wait list because of lack of clarity on how many they can bring in this year.
  22. Did anybody else get a cryptic letter from WashU? I assume it means I'm on the wait list but they didn't explicitly say that.
  23. I applied to Brown! CP subfield. Anxious to hear back from them haha
