  1. I emailed Iowa and they replied like this: All of the letters were mailed out this morning. If you haven’t received anything within two weeks you can email me back and I will scan at that time. Sincerely, Deb West How they cannot just email people is way beyond me. It's 21st century and you still waste a lot of paper for application and notification purposes. Sorry if I sound a bit too much haha. Got NYU rejection just mins ago and I think for Iowa it'd be an implying rejection (at this point it's quite safe to assume so...) In the end I failed all overboard this year. Still don't know if I see some of you next year or not. With the application fees not sure I can afford. Well, maybe I'd be writing and keeping manuscripts in my drawers all life then be published posthumously haha. (Well, I still don't know what the future holds for the next few months coz Europe now is crazy with the virus :ss) Good luck to everyone in your career and many thanks for all your support during this killing wait. Best wishes from Spain.
  2. Got rejected by Brown and Stegner. Emails came at the same time. Too hard a day.
  3. I just think the same. I hope because I'm international student so they'll email me instead. The paper manuscripts thingy is already insane.
  4. Someone on Draft just got waitlisted at Brown. They're going up now I guess. Haven't heard anything yet. So nervous. :-s
  5. Thank you so much for sharing it. I so need these wise words right now. I know my path is certainly not the hardest ones out there but still... Thank you. Galicia just has the first case this morning but I feel like Spanish people don't care that much haha. Anyway we used to think that this region would be unbreakable because transport really sucks and it's not easy to go to Madrid even. Well, but still... I hope you stay strong, and healthy and get good news soon. Oh no :-o I'm so sorry to hear that. My thoughts are with them. Hope that they'll be cured soon and all best wishes.
  6. I guess by now I can be sure that I'm rejected by Iowa and NYU, can't I? Seems like all acceptances were sent out last week already. These coming weeks will be hard, yes. But since last week when I give up hope, I feel I have more freedom and calmer. Well, if they don't like my stories, then that's it. I don't think I can afford the second round, coming from a third world country. I've been trying to be an optimist but this time I just can't. Anyway, good luck and fingers and toes crossed to everyone still waiting.
  7. Spain is 6 hours ahead of New York and 7 of Iowa (Weird coz it's even more western than the UK geographically). But here people drink at any moment after midday till morning haha. Kind of an 'improvement' from Scotland where they drink whisky in the morning haha. (When I was there last year I somehow adopted that habit LOL)
  8. Drinking wine and refreshing email every 5 mins here. Will have my presentation tomorrow and just amuse myself that I'll speak like Paulina in La casa de las flores. Haha. PaulinaChallenge is on me and I'm sure I'll win haha.
  9. Good luck with that. Because of you I know about the school. How ignorant haha. Might apply there next year too. Fingers crossed.
  10. Rejections really suck. I haven't been able to focus on anything for a while. Well, it might not be the best strategy but excellent food and drinks always help me haha. We're talking about Spain right? LOL Someone above talks about sewing. That might help. Back then I did some knitting, and it was really helpful. Anyway just last night after 2 first rejections I suddenly want to write again, have some ideas and plans. I think it's a bright side of all this shit haha. Telling your recommenders that you got rejections is really hard. I was there before. It took me 3 years applying to dozens of schools to get in the masters I'm doing now. So you imagine haha. But in the end I'm so happy and I think it's some kind of like destiny. If I had been accepted earlier, I wouldn't meet the people I know now and wouldn't do the topic I am doing now. Anyway, huge congratulations for those who got acceptances by now. I'm genuinely happy for you guys. I already imagine some day a few years later I'll read books by some of you over here. Last night I hid in the closet and cried like a baby but now wake up feeling better. Well, that's something you can't do anything about. I still have to write even if this life I don't ever set foot on the US haha.
  11. It stings and I don't think I have chance in the US anymore. Actually I've been thinking of Hong Kong, Australia and New Zealand as well. To have hope again in this tough time. Phewws.
  12. Got rejected by Michigan. The email went to spam 1 hour ago. :-s Well, only 4 to go.
  13. I just get in the Draft but stop reading the posts after 30 secs haha. Just outside my window the entroido (carnaval) is happening right now in Spain. Well all I can do is to leave all behind. 'Tráeme el alcohol que quita el dolor. Hoy vamos a juntar la luna y el sol'. they're playing Subeme la radio haha. I think it's best to go with Spanish spirit. =))
  14. Hi there. Just pop in to say we have 5 schools in common (per 6 I applied to) haha. also rejected from Cornell and desperately waiting for others, though I start loosing hope and finding ways to cope with the scenario of being rejected by all of them. :(((
  15. Oh no. I think the only strategy now is to drink my edginess away over the weekend LOL
