  1. So sorry to hear this Ydrl. I hope they will be ok. You and your family are in my thoughts.
  2. Yes thanks! I think this is super important. Community workshops have been crucial for me as a writer to grow outside of an academic environment. Also it is good to include these on your CV.
  3. Here lies anarchisttiger: Spammed to death. 2020 application season.
  4. This is somewhat mysterious. From website: Decisions on admission into the Creative Writing Program will be announced by April 1 of each year, though we generally try to make our notifications several weeks before that date. For fiction last year rejections were March 11 and in 2018 they were March 20. Also from results board: Somewhat nice rejection letter. I heard a rumor that accepted folk were told a week or so beforehand, and were not allowed to post about it. Hope this information helps for those of you waiting next year (2020)
  5. Thanks for sharing this. I wonder if it was a post-interview acceptance, or just a straight acceptance via email.
  6. Ahh very true. I didn't think about the holiday season. I called the Iowa number back and it was one of those "You have won a cruise" recordings. Umm sorry, no thanks, maybe when this whole Corona virus thing gets sorted. ?
  7. This sounds like a really good idea. I realized my neuroticism about this whole process peaked (hopefully) a few days ago when I saw a missed call from Des Moines, Iowa. I got really excited until I remembered I didn't apply to Iowa, lol. Yes, it's that bad. On a separate but related note: I noticed a huge uptick in spam calls shortly after I applied, and it seems that others have been reporting the same. Does this mean that schools are selling our numbers? Maybe their servers are being scraped by robo-calling bots? Either way, ugh.
  8. Hi everybody! ? I've been shyly following this forum for a while now, and I've decided it's time to step out of the shadows. In response, I wanted to share this article about Robin Benway. https://www.bustle.com/p/author-robin-benway-was-rejected-from-every-mfa-program-she-applied-to-now-shes-a-national-book-award-finalist-3232221 I know that not everyone would want to make the jump to YA fiction, but I think it's admirable that she was able to be flexible, and I thought it was an inspiring article.
