  1. Hi, I would choose the program that you like personally, based on the instruction, professors, and the areas of research you want to pursue. If you are looking at Riverside as your option based on the fact it is in California (weather, for example), keep in mind that Riverside tends to be very hot during the summer and you will need to stay in air-conditioned spaces to stay comfortable. Btw, congratulations on your acceptances. I am also a comparative literature grad.
  2. Hello, I am a newbie here. Just received a letter from SDSU that they had favorably reviewed my application and are recommending me to the Graduate Division to be admitted. Does anyone know if that is just a formality or not! Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks.
  3. Make them visit a writing center if there is one. Two mandatory visits per semester might help if their grade depends on it. Make sure they have to bring your prompt to the writing center and get a stamp or some other validation. The writing center staff will usually go over the prompt and help them.
