  3. Thank you for letting me know your thoughts. I am very strongly considering Duke. Infact one of the current students just told me yesterday that they got a job at the World Bank. Given that they're the first class graduating, the program already has some pretty impressive stats. Also, last summer students did intern at Facebook (FAANG), wells fargo, blackrock and the likes. However, I am more interested in public policy and hence looking for a little more information on the kind of jobs I can expect after graduating. Along with Duke, I am considering Georgetown DSPP and NYU Applied Stats for Social Science Research. I also did get accepted to UChicago MPP (Had applied to MSCAPP but got accepted to MPP) but since I am an international student I am not considering MPP (not STEM eligible). What universities are you considering?
  4. Hey I have been accepted to Duke MIDS. I have heard very mixed reviews about the program. Can any current student/ alumni let me know their thoughts on the program? Or anyone else considering the MIDS program here?
  5. Hey I have also been accepted to UChicago MPP and Georgetown DSPP. Would you have any thoughts on which course I should go for?
  6. Hey I have been accepted to NYU's MS Applied Statistics for Social Science Research too. I've also been accepted to UChicago MPP, Georgetown DSPP and Duke MIDS. I have not been able to find a lot of data on the kind of internships/ jobs students end up taking after A3SR. The faculty, though, seems very knowledgable and qualified to me. I am looking to make a career in public policy after graduation and since A3SR is offered by NYU's education school, I am a little skeptical about its fit. Although, I was told by one of the profs I know (Distinguished career prof at CMU) that NYU has an excellent reputation in the social sciences. What are your thoughts? Would really appreciate if anyone, who has any pointers on the above courses, can let us know their thoughts. I have been pondering over my admits for the past 1 week now and have reached no decision. Is there any particular reason that people don't consider NYU's stats program when applying to MS statistics programs.
  7. That makes a lot of sense. Thank you for your inputs
  8. @Guest123 What are your thoughts on education loan? Also, are you an international applicant?
  9. @Guest123 Hey received financial aid letter yesterday. They're giving me 25% tuition scholarship. The program is too expensive for me to be able to afford it without a loan. Do you have any idea what we can expect in terms of placements? Median salary etc?
  10. @Guest123 Right that makes sense. I will probably mail them once I get all my decisions. But from what I've seen they don't offer too much funding. Not sure though.
  11. @Guest123 The offer letter says that the financial aid package will be sent separately by the admitting dept. Not sure if it means that I will necessarily receive financial aid. Would you have any idea?
  12. Hi everyone! I just received an admit from Duke MIDS dated March 19th. I received the interview invite on 16th and took the interview on 18th. I was asked the following questions: 1. What are your strongpoints and areas where you want to hone your technical skills? - to which I answered: my strongpoints would mostly be analytics and basics of data science. Potential development areas - public policy, stats, computational social science, big data 2. What experience do you have working in teams with people from different backgrounds both geographically and technical background wise? It was a very short 10 min casual interview.
  13. Hey! Do you mind sharing your profile and interview experience? How was the interview? What did they ask? Thanks!
  14. Hey! Have you received a decision from UChicago's MS analytics program?
  15. Have applied to Duke MIDS and have heard nothing from them yet. Not even sure if they've started sending out interview invites.
  16. Hi everyone! Has anyone here applied to NYU's A3SR (applied statistics for social science research) program? I haven't heard back from them yet and getting a little anxious.
  17. Hi everyone! Has anyone received an interview invite or a decision from Duke's MIDS program? They had started sending interview invites by this time last year but I haven't heard anything from them yet and starting to get a little worried.
  18. Congratulations! Do they send out acceptances on the weekends as well?
  19. Might as well start this thread. Anyone heard back from NYU Applied Statistics for Social Science Research for fall 2020? I had applied on 28th January and haven't heard anything since.
  20. Yes I meant semester. I'm hoping it's renewable like it usually is in most colleges.
  21. Hey just got a mail to check app status. Got through DSPP with $11.5k/ year aid!
  22. Just got through MS-DSPP with $11.5k/year! Congrats everyone
  23. Since it's new we don't really have a lot of data points. But I did speak to a lot of the current DSPP students before applying and I was really impressed with how the program has turned out to be for them. One of the main reasons I applied to this program was the feedback I got from the current DSPP students. Overall, I'd rank DSPP above MSCAPP (UChicago), at-least personally. Also, the location is a big big plus since half the MSCAPP batch ends up in DC for their internships.
