  1. Hi everyone! For anyone accepted to uOttawa MPH program, feel free to message me with any questions you may have! I am currently doing my practicum for the MPH program at uOttawa (finished my first 2 terms) and would love to help anyone with any questions they may have with the program
  2. I believe they look at cumulative but I am not 100% sure
  3. From my experience, schools care more about your experience and reasons for wanting to pursue an MPH rather than your grades.
  4. Hi! Send me a private message with your email and I will be happy to help!
  5. Some people have started to enrol in courses but it didn't allow me to until about a week or so after my deposit was received. We also have to do it manually so people who are not familiar with the uOttawa system may have not figured it out yet either. I would check back every day multiple times a day to see if I could enrol lol. Plus some classes are stream specific so they will have open seats because only the people taking that stream will be in that class.
  6. From my experience, it does not hurt to apply. I recently got accepted into uOttawa MPH (applied last minute) and I surprisingly got in! It is also not too late to continue working on your application. The main thing is to spin your experience in a direction that appears related to public health or how it has helped develop your passion for public health. If you ever want to talk about it, send me a message! I could also send you my application if that helps writing yours. I read a couple applications from friends and it really helped shape how I wrote mine and what to really focus on.
  7. I would assume its for 2021! Because of COVID some student may not want to complete this Master's online so they have a deferral option (from what I read on the website).
  8. When I got my acceptance email, we were told to accept, defer or decline as soon as possible so that people on the waitlist could be informed if they are accepted or not. I believe we had until July 23rd to respond (and pay the deposit). Someone can correct me on that date if I am wrong.
  9. Thank you! So the work experience that I added to my CV for the program was ~2.5 years working for Newborn Screening Ontario (public health sector), ~1 year working with health records at a major childrens hospital, and about 3 years working as a research assistant in a lab at uOttawa. I have 1 publication and working on ~3 papers that should be ready for publishing within the next year. I also volunteer with Health Promotion on campus (3 years) and the Ronald McDonald Family Room at a nearby hospital as well (still currently employed/volunteering with all of these positions). My uOttawa GPA is a 8.85 I think? I don't know if they look at it, but its a steady increase in GPA where my last 2 years were perfect.
  10. I believe that they look at your cumulative grade point average. You may want to email gradmed and they could give you a more accurate answer. Hi! I believe that there is a language requirement for international students. I have never had to deal with any international barriers in regards to attending university in Canada, so I don't know much about that process. In terms of uOttawa programs, I am happy to answer any questions if you want to send me a message! Hi! Yes I did apply this year and I accepted my offer a week or so ago. It is a 4 term program, but there are many schools that have a 1 year MPH program. technically, it is a 3 year program in terms of taking courses and the Summer semester it is a placement where you intern/work in a public health position. There is the option of having an extra semester, but that is for language courses (usually French). I do agree that the electives themselves may be a little limited, but in general I do like the idea of the different streams that will help you specialize in your area of interest.
  11. Don't forget to take a look at uOttawa! They just started their MPH this year (4 term program). The application was very straightforward and the "letter of intent" is more of a form you fill out. There is a lot of really relevant practicum placements too in Ottawa!
  12. I was also accepted! If you wanted to connect sometime it would be nice to have a friendly face
  13. Typically they convert each class to the average and weight it based on the amount of credits the class is worth. Being said, the converted GPA is typically different than a percentage GPA as different grades have more or less weight on the final outcome. From the percentage alone you would have a 5.0/10 at uOttawa or a 2.3/4.0.
  14. Just letting everyone know that it looks like uOttawa made their decisions!
  15. Hi everyone! Looks like uOttawa as made their decisions about MPH (or some?)! I didn't get an email yet but when I went to my application it was there!
