    Hello,

I wanted to know when the decisions by HGSE would be out!

Hi! There is a thread called HGSE 2021 under the Education Forum :) A lot of us have been chatting in there! We don't know the definite day, but we are hoping decisions come out tomorrow!

Just tried to look at it and it now says "Video Unavailable: This Video is Private" Looks like they now have it as a private video. Guess we will just have to wait for the link in our acceptance letters ?

Love that positive affirmation!!! Hoping the longer wait will be worth it for all of us :)

I think it's def easier to get into Penn GSE. I was rejected by Stanford a couple weeks ago as well but received scholarship from Penn. The application I submitted and the Statement of Purpose are very similar. However, it might depend on the program. But another interesting perspective is that currently among my friends who have applied for edu schools, I only know people who are admitted at Penn but not Stanford. Not sure what programs they've applied to tho.

Agreed. Stanford admits half of the students that HGSE does and 1/3 of the students that Penn does... Probably safe to say if someone was accepted to Stanford then they will also be accepted to PENN and HGSE (if it's a similar program)...of course there are exceptions still.

    Were you able to login?

It is very likely a fluke that I was able to access the admitted students website BUT while I am here I am looking around and there are a lot of virtual events starting March 22, so they gotta tell us before then!

Oooooo!!! Do you mind sharing what some of the virtual events are?

Don’t they have rolling admissions though??

Depends on the program! The program I applied to had a deadline then rolling admissions until they filled all of the spots...that particular program has finished sending out initial acceptances and everyone has a March 31st deadline to respond before they move on to the waitlist.

Penn GSE Master's result just came out. Hopefully Harvard soon!

I'm predicting it will be this Friday or next Monday/Tuesday (but hopefully sooner) ? My thought is they will want to give everyone at least a month before the national acceptance deadline on April 15th.

I still personally think the change of programs as well as the switch from in-person meetings & evaluations to virtual meetings & evaluations would be a more critical cause for the admissions decisions to be delayed. Of course there might be some sort of increase of numbers of applications for Ed.M. programs, but we need to keep in mind that there’s no doctoral applications which means the admissions committee doesn’t have to review around 1,000 doctoral applications and dozens/hundreds of possible Ed.M. referrals from the doctoral applications. Although the doctoral programs have a different application deadline as well as a different notification date, it still gives the committee a lot more time and flexibility to review the applications for Ed.M programs solely. This is my perspective on the cause of the delay of the results.

Good point about the doctoral applications... I guess time will tell! I wish we had insight about the exact week/day/time. I’m trying to stay occupied and not think about it, but it’s been a rough time ?

I think that's the page with the application status, whereas hmj598 seems to be looking at the landing page on the portal that takes you to the application status :) I think it does say "Ed.M. and C.A.S." for everyone -- hope this clarifies!

    That is correct!!

Ok guys so I called admissions and they told me what they wrote in emails: mid March or late March by the latest. So I asked again whether it’d be possible to be today, and she said no. I guess that ends our anxiety at least for today

Bummer! But at least we can all stop checking the portal for the time being.

Me too, I have an exam in another hour. Idk how am I gonna focus lol

I was taking the GRE on the day that HGSE released decisions for the online masters this past summer... it definitely didn’t help my score lol

I think the most likely scenario is that decisions will be released today.

I go back and forth thinking about whether it will be today or next week...Still checking the portal like crazy. I’m also holding out hope that if it’s not today maybe they will let us know sooner than next Friday.

I work at Harvard (different school) and next week marks one year since we went remote across the schools. So yes, while the committee may have completed bulk of last year’s first round reviews in person, given the pandemic they allowed for a second round of admissions and those would have been reviewed remotely. With programs fully remote we have all adapted to leveraging Harvard’s technology to replace in person meetings (in some cases, it has actually allowed for some internal processes to be completed more quickly). I would think any delay in the decisions are more likely attributed to an increase in applicants and assessment against the new structure. Still (naively) hoping for Friday, hang in there everyone!!!

Very true...I'm seriously hoping to hear back tomorrow...another week of waiting will be rough :(
