  1. Has anyone heard anything from Rutgers?
  2. Rejected from UW Madison; nothing from other schools
  3. Dear all, totally confused international student here. My university does not cover health insurance for me (MA program). The university insurance plan (with Aetna) costs around 3,000 per year (I am from a country with almost free healthcare, and this freaks me out). The university has kind of strict waiver policy, I have shopped around a bit and failed to find anything which would be cheaper and would conform to those requirements. Do you have any tips for me? 3,000 per year is really huge, especially for someone who has not have (up until now) any serious conditions. Travel insurance will not qualify, I assume. Medicaid for international students? Does it exist? Any help would be very much appreciated!
  4. Sorry for asking, but what is OP? No, they have explicitly stated on their financial offer that they would not cover health insurance.
  5. Many thanks to you! I will try to negotiate my package while exploring external opportunities!
  6. Applied to Medieval studies, waitlisted.
  7. Case Western is a wonderful program for medievalists. Tulane and Tufts do also offer funding but might be not so well suited for medievalists. There is also the Institute of Sacred Music within the Yale Divinity Schools which has an MA in Arts in Religion (the Divinity School has some spots as well). And you will be able to take courses from the art history department at Yale (!). In Europe, take a look at Central European University (Medieval Studies), they do offer full funding packages. Reasonably priced MA's can be found in the Netherlands.

I emailed them and got a rejection letter a few days letter. But that was expected since I had not had an interview.
  9. Hi everyone, this forum was incredibly helpful for me during this application season so I am asking again for help! Do you happen to know any grants/fellowships/whatever for international students? I was accepted to one program with (almost) full tuition waiver but I still have to cover insurance, some fees, travel, etc. It's MA, I am female. Any hints would very much appreciated! ?
  10. Hi everyone, I was accepted to a school with an almost full tuition waiver but there are still some things that are not covered (health insurance, some fees) plus relocation. I am wondering whether there are any fellowships or grants or something to help me cover that? It's Master's, art history, medieval. Many many thanks in advance!

Thank you! Quite late, would I say. I have applied to a few PhD programs (Stanford, NYU, Harvard, Wisconsin, hahaha) and funded MA's (Williams, Tufts, Tulane, Case, ISM at Yale). And CEU in Vienna, Medieval studies.

I might be wrong, but he wrote me in September that he would not be teaching "next year" (I am not sure whether it is 2020-21 or 2021-22). Anyway, to my knowledge he is not taking students any longer.
  20. Dear all, I have been applying to several schools, including two public (art history). And I got worried about the infamous two-year rule. If the university is public, then the funding is (almost exclusively?) public and I will end up being subject to the two-year rule? Who makes the decision about the type of visa? I would be very grateful for any thoughts and insights!
  21. Dear all, what do you think about UO doctoral program and about the school in the whole? I am considering applying but can't decide. How is the program regarded? Is the department helpful? How do they treat grad students? Any information/opinions would be very much appreaciated!

    Fall 2021

I have selected 10 programmes and have already submitted 6 applications. The problem in my subfield is not only COVID but that lots of great professors have retired this year or are going to retire very soon. A good thing is that all schools have waived GRE this year (or made it optional). It is a big relief. I have been studying for it for a while but was happy to drop it once it was clear that they don't need it any longer.
  23. Among private schools -- Williams, Case Western, Tufts, Yale (Institute of Sacred Music-Divinity, joint program). There are many more public schools, to my knowledge.

Dear AncArt, wow, I did not about that! It's a wonderful program, thank you very much! Unfortunately, I am not an international application which disqualfies me. Oh

Tulane offers both tution waivers and stipends. Syracuse in NYC also gives funding to MA students. This might be useful for those who will read the thread later. I am going to approach former students if admitted.
