  1. Thanks to everyone who weighed in! I received the offer today. Big ups to Catalystica for the explanation for the 15th, it did wonders in helping me to understand my actual position with McGill and was a big help in sorting out my options. The one on April 7th was me. No funding, so I declined.
  2. I wish Tulane hadn't emailed me just to tell me that I was at the top of their waitlist, but if they do extend an offer for full funding to me that means as much as $40,000 that I would have spent going to McGill, not to mention the value of 2 years of Tulane tuition.
  3. So... I had a fun but immensely frustrating thing happen today. I'm a to-be Master's student, and yesterday I accepted an offer from McGill. They were able to guarantee me some money via being a TA, their program seems really good for me, and tuition is vastly cheaper than any of my other options. Plus, Montreal is an insanely awesome place and is relatively affordable. Without any comparable offers, it was a no-brainer for me, and although I only officially accepted yesterday I'd been telling people I was going to go to McGill for the better part of a week now. Today, I woke up to an email from Tulane stating that I was at the top of their waitlist for a fully-funded offer and asking if I'd already accepted to another school. I'm at a total loss of what to do, and it feels like life just likes messing with me at this point.
  4. Speaking of which, is it just me or is it really quite rude that programs will just ignore you if you've been waitlisted? I've had three now that were just dead silence until I reached out. I worked very hard these past years and I even paid an exorbitant amount of money for them to look at my application, and they can't even give a status update after sending out acceptances. I feel like if I hadn't reached out, I wouldn't even know they'd looked at my application until I got a either a 'congrats you've been admitted with no funding!' or a 'heh sorry no dice, we regret to inform you that...' email at 11:59 pm on April 15. Edit: Sorry for ranting, I know everyone here is dealing with the same kind of events right now.
  5. I reached out a week or two ago and got a response basically saying, 'We're a small program. You've been waitlisted, thanks for your application.' I'll submit a response- I forgot that we could do that for waitlists.
  6. Can anyone claim the MA acceptance from UBC? They're pretty much the only school I'm waiting on before I can start making a decision.
  7. I reached out by email yesterday to ask if they had a timeline for when decisions would be released. I applied to the 2-year Masters program. Edit: I heard back just this morning after emailing yesterday.
  8. Well, a mentor of mine encouraged me to reach out and see if some of the schools I hadn't heard back from had a timeline for when decisions would be released. Toronto was nice enough to just tell me I wasn't on the list of students getting offers so... mission success? Side note UBC said they won't be sending anything out until mid-march at earliest.
  9. Salvete omnes, I've been worrying more and more about what my plan B should be if I don't get a tenable offer for this admissions cycle (I'm applying for MA in Classics Programs) and the thought of a Post-Bacc has turned into a persistent mental nag. What are your guys' thoughts on them? Does anyone have any experience with these programs? It seems like they're all over the place in terms of cost, and given COVID I'm not sure what to expect out of one for the upcoming year. Some have rolling admissions, for others, *cough* UCLA and UPenn *cough* I would need to get an application in in the next two days, before I'll have heard back from most of my MA programs.
  10. Actually thanks for letting us know! I applied to Rutgers for the Masters' program, so it sounds like if they only just started acknowledging PhD applications then I'd think since I haven't heard about the MA it means I'll be waiting even longer. One less application to bite my nails over in the immediacy.
  11. Congrats to everyone hearing back! For those who are still waiting who else has been bamboozled into answering those "This is an urgent message for the vehicle owner..." scam calls because who knows maybe that unknown number is my dream school offering me everything I could ever want
  12. Do you guys think it's worth it/a good idea to email grad program advisors and let them know about changes to info you submitted? Specifically, I submitted my application to UW before I decided to drop my honors degree (haha oops) and I've also managed to get an article published in the meantime. Of course from what my professors have been saying I should expect to hear back from all these places in just a few minutes... thoughts?
  13. Anyone else just feel like going, "AHHHHHHH"? this waiting is killing me
  14. Best of luck! After receiving another email from the professor who informed me it sounds like they're making a lot of offers- probably 40 something. It wouldn't surprise me at all to hear that they're still sending emails and notifications.
  15. No better way to kick off the anxiety of the season than with an offer of admission! I'd been telling myself (relatively successfully) that I shouldn't expect any decisions until Feb/Mar, and so I'd managed to avoid a lot of anxiety and dread for the time being. But I heard today that I'd been accepted into UC Boulder's Classics MA program! I'm 16th on the waitlist for funding though, and I thought that Boulder would be more of a safety school. While I'm thrilled to know I'll at least be going somewhere for grad school, now comes all the self-doubt and anxiety about all the other applications. 16th on the waitlist is also somewhat intriguing- it sounds like there were a lot of applicants and a lot of offers of admission. Just letting you guys know, am I right to think that maybe Classics has also seen a surge in applications this season?
