  1. Thanks so much everyone for giving me an idea about what to expect during the event. You raised my hopes ? yes I have already connected with a potential supervisor and we have a good relationship. Last week, she emailed me and told me that she would like me to meet with her lab members via Zoom. And so we did! she either did that to take her lab’s opinion about me or get to meet one another as a newcomer! Right ? I think this is positive because not all potential supervisors introduce their entire lab to a potential candidate.
  2. How did you know that it is a formal interview? Did they tell you? I will be meeting the faculty, students, and staff as well. I think we will find out the number of participants when the event starts. As for the University of Toronto, they will only send out 5 offers to international students like me. So it is very competitive. But I think being invited to this event means that they are giving attention to our applications right? No, I did not receive any possible question because they did not mention to me (word by word) that this is a formal interview. They just said: Congratulations! You have been invited by this professor! Which University’s recruitment event are you attending and what program?
  3. Mine is also on the 28th and 29th of January. I received the full schedule. There will be icebreaker activites, and I will also be able to speak with the faculty, grad students, and post docs. They will also make a virtual tour of the neuroimaging techniques that they use in their research center so that I become familiar with the work they do. So, I don’t know if this is an interview or more like they are advertising me to join their University!?
  4. Hello, I’ve got invited by my potential supervisor to attend the PhD Recruitment Event (at the University of Toronto). She also connected me with her lab to have a Zoom chat to meet one another. Does that mean I have been admitted or shortlisted? Any ideas about the purpose of a Recruitment Event? Thank you.
  5. Hello everyone! I just received an email from my potential supervisor and from the graduate admissions (University of Toronto) telling me that I have been invited to their recruitment events. They also congratulated me for this invitation. Has any one of you been to a PhD recruitment event? I dont understand if that means I am accepted or not. Does someone have an idea of what is the purpose of this event and if this is a very good sign? Thank you
  6. I am going to apply for Fall 2021 PhD Psychology in Canada and USA. My research interest is in the neuropsychology of aging. Particularly, I am interested to study the impact of healthy and pathological aging brain on memory processes and the strategies to improve brain function in order to reduce the risk of developing amnesic mild cognitive impairment (aMCI) or Alzheimer’s Disease (AD) in older adults. Does anyone know some universities in Canada and USA that have supervisors with research interests aligned with mine? Cheers, Jessica
  7. Hello! My name is Jessica, I earned my Master's degree in Cognitive and Clinical Neuroscience from London, UK. I am now in the process of applying to PhD Psychology, or Neuroscience, or Neuropsychology programs. After graduating in January 2020, I have been and still am endlessly searching for potential supervisors across Canada and USA. My research interest is in the neuropsychology of memory, cognition, and aging. I am particularly interested to examine the impact of healthy and pathological aging brain on memory processes and the strategies to improve brain function in order to reduce the risk of developing amnesic mild cognitive impairment (aMCI) or Alzheimer’s Disease (AD) in older adults. I am very interested in neurological and neuropsychological diseases in older adults and how this impacts their cognitive abilities! I need help!! Who knows which universities across Canada and USA have supervisors that conduct the above work? Any response is greatly appreciated!!!! Thank you, Jessica
