I received an invitation from Ohio State today! Super exciting but their interview is the same exact day as U of Wisconsin.... Out of the programs I have heard back from I had to reschedule 3 of them because all of them were on the 22nd. I wish programs would communicate. It seems everyone has interviews on the 22nd
-
I already heard back about 2-3 weeks ago from IU with the initial invite. Still waiting for more details since I had to reschedule.

I had to reschedule two of my interviews (3 of them were supposed to be on the same day, Actually the 22nd just like you) Both the programs I rescheduled with were understanding. You should be fine!

That’s good to know. I didn’t know that courses had to have final exams to meet APA accreditation. The majority of my undergrad courses have had final projects or papers rather than exams.
-
I saw a couple people here who applied to UC Berkeley and have commented. Just wanted to share something that made me reconsider the program. This year the APA accreditation committee voted and placed it on probation. This may mean it may be hard to get an accredited internship after completing the program.

Sorry the link did not work! I decided this time to play it safe and just share it via google docs https://drive.google.com/file/d/1xNBTL9utx8kzyALhD9286tzfslxABrnh/view?usp=sharing

Hey everyone! I'm in close contact with my advisor who has taught courses in my universities school psychology program (although she is faculty in a different program within the department) She helped me develop a list of interview questions and things to think about prior to interview season. It's a little long, and sometimes redundant but I figured I would share it with fellow applicants who are just as excited as me. I have attached the word doc to this reply. I hope it helps! It depends on the program. Some applications that are flagged with issues or take longer to receive may be reviewed later? I know someone on the clinical psych thread said they received an interview request a week after other people started posting their invites in the results section. I wouldn't count yourself out yet!

Do you suggest directing funding questions to current students rather than professors or POI we want to work with? To avoid exaggerated claims about funding and get a more accurate story?
-
I have heard that the majority of programs do not guarantee funding for students but that at most you can ask whether the majority of previous students received full funding for their time at the school. I know private schools rarely have full funding. I can name 2 that have almost 100% but none that give it to every student. is your school public or private? I know R1 public schools often have more funding than most.

Program coordinator This is what is said “ The University of Massachusetts Boston Department of Counseling and School Psychology Admissions Committee was very impressed with your application and is pleased to extend an invitation for you to interview for admission to our Ph.D. Program in School Psychology! We will conduct interview day via Zoom, as we are currently working remotely due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Please hold Friday, February 5th, 2021 from 1 – 5pm ET for interviews. We plan to send you some orienting materials to review ahead of this meeting to provide background about our program and introduce you to campus. On February 5th you will meet with faculty and students to provide you with the opportunity to get to know us better and learn more about the program, faculty, and the university. This time will include both individual and group interviews. We will be sending additional information closer to interview day.”

Just heard back from the University Of Massachusetts Boston. I know a couple of people here are hoping to go there so you should be receiving your invite soon!
-
I’m sure you’ll hear back regardless! Hopefully soon. Thank you! I appreciate that.

I think both. I reached out to at least 1 professor at each of the 9 programs I applied too and only 8 responded. The one that did not respond to me (and might not have even seen my email) emailed me directly to ask for an interview (Indiana) A POI I had talked to previously on the phone called me directly to informal invite me to an interview and then sent the formal interview request a week later via email. Many programs that waived the GRE for 2021 admissions have seen a large influx of applications. Some programs (not sure about Minnesota) have seen 50% or higher increases. This may have impacted interview invitations. I would not worry if you have not received an invite prior to January.
-
Indiana University also sent out invites.
-
Thanks! I hope so too

I have heard on the School Psychology subreddit that the majority of admits to PhD programs in this field are coming straight from undergrad. It also seems to be the case at a few of the schools, I have had the chance to talk to current students about. Without research experience it may be hard to get into some schools, but the only schools I know rarely take students straight out of undergrad in School Psych are UC Santa Barbara (Clinical/Counseling/School Combined) and UVA (Clinical/School). Good luck to you!

University of Cincinnati sent their invites out today! Unfortunately, it was for the same day and time as the U of Wisconsin interview... Hopefully they have an alternative

I hope so! I got lucky and already heard back from my #1 about an interview. I'm trying not to get too attached though to any specific program as my real #1 is any program where I get in with funding, have an interest in a POI and my fiancé gets in to a nearby MSW program. Crossing my fingers that he hears back soon from Wisconsin as well!

I am! Student Teacher in SPED here! This semester has been a mess trying to line everything up but we made it!
-
No problem! Happy to help.
-
Ashley Mayworm! I relooked at the email and she said that they admit students in a cohort rather than to specific faculty.
-
I think they said 1-2. But the POI I wanted to work with said she probably wouldn’t be taking students.
-
I originally had Loyola University Chicago on my list and they had the same issue. I emailed the POIs I was interested in and if they said they were taking students I applied there. I also applied to Maryland and Boston and know they have funding for students. Not sure about the other schools.

That’s the same way it was with me. It looked like a departmental email but I could be wrong.
