  1. The wait after an interview is definitely the worst part for me of the admissions process. I didn't get anxious when I had not heard back from specific programs because I understood the different timelines for interview invitations. However, the closer I get to the +2-week mark since interview (2 weeks is Friday/Saturday) for 3 separate programs, I refresh my email every hour and get so excited whenever I get an unopened email notification even if it's just spam.... It would be helpful one of the programs would have sent out decisions all at the same time instead of each POI calling their picks, as it is increasing the anxiety tenfold... Best of luck to everyone!
  2. Congrats and happy birthday! What school did you get into? If you don’t mind sharing.
  3. So true. While Wisconsin-Madison is my dream school and I hope that I get in I’ll be happy to continue my educational journey at one of my other schools. With how competitive this cycle has been I might end up accepting my offer at IU without funding unless I get an offer somewhere else. IU fits me really well but unless i get funding from a fellowship (I’ll find out before April) or find an assistantship myself it’ll be hard. Buffalo’s program fits me for different reasons and I found the faculty at Ohio state to be off putting on interview day. Umass-Boston’s stipend is hardly livable in Boston (17k) and doesn’t have a great MSW and program in the area (that’s not private and super expensive) Good luck to everyone! I hope you find a home and are able to find funding. This post isn’t meant to brag, I just wanted to share some of my frustrations this cycle and wish everyone the best!
  4. I do not. I would assume 9-12 students though. That is the typical public university EdS cohort size.
  5. I’m not sure as a whole but the faculty member (KE) I’m most interested in said during a information phone call (pre-interview day) that she would be accepting 1-2 PhD students. I would expect about 8 offers to go out because that has been how previous years have worked. if this is about the recent posting on the results page you never know. Sometimes the faculty change around who gets more students depending on the fit of the applicants. Good luck if you want to work with SK!
  6. Did you get into UC's program? If so, congrats I remember hearing it was your top choice!
  7. I got accepted to IU’s program on Monday and while they couldn’t guarantee me funding (Most School Psych programs don’t even if all students can find it) they have had almost 100% of their students funded the last 4-5 years. I would inquire about the track record of previous cohorts in getting fellowships and assistantships. Hope you end up somewhere you’ll enjoy!
  8. I’m sorry you’ve dealt with that. I’ve been sharing things since December and have yet to receive any DMs that aren’t positive. It’s not mandatory to share but I wanted to be transparent to other applicants because that’s what I’d want. Thank you for sharing! It is appreciated and I hope nobody else accuses you of lying.
  9. That's ok! Honestly since I already interviewed, I am just relaxing, hoping to hear back and trying not to stress too much. I think knowing the POI would probably stress me out more.
  10. The previous poster I believe said phone call? It was @purplelavalamp
  11. I think they said 8 students were accepted last year? If what an earlier poster said is true, we may still have 7 spots left that are acceptances and not waitlisted candidates. With COVID that number may be bigger or smaller. Traditionally decisions have gone out within 2 weeks of interview day. I would expect to hear back early next week (hopefully, as my fingers are crossed too)
  12. For me it was probably my career/research interests. Behavior is definitely lower on my research/career goals. I have loads of school experience with my special ed background and mentioned that is where I wanted to work eventually (even if in a leadership role). They likely just wanted candidates who wanted a heavy behavioral program. The clinical part I wouldnt worry too much about unless you are applying to a mix of clinical and school psych programs. If your POI or admissions can tell that you really want clinical psych and are viewing school psychology as a backup they often will pass over you. For me UC was a backup or lower school on my list as it does not have as big a mental health focus or social justice as other schools. Plus it's my mom's alma mater and she paid me to apply there (as she really wanted me to go haha)
  13. I would inquire about what spot you are on the waitlist. At most schools a couple students are accepted on the waitlist. I would think the waitlist wouldn’t be much longer than half of what they accepted. Dr Collins said they had to sadly reject candidates who would have either been admitted or put on the waitlist in previous years.
  14. Just got a official email from Dr Collins that I was not accepted into the PhD program at the University of Cincinnati this year. Sad, but I think that other programs were a much better fit (I’m big on school mental health, social justice and social emotional learning) Best of luck to others hoping to hear back!
  15. I went to the interview this past Saturday and the program felt very friendly and close knit. I’m from Cincinnati and kinda want to move out of the city for a while for grad school or else it would be ranked higher for me. UC’s program is one of the best behavioral programs in the country, allows you to get your BCBA in the program and is fully funded. You wouldn’t go wrong with it. I only have a top 2 (UW-Madison and Buffalo) right now since I don’t know what funding I’ll get elsewhere and where my fiancé get ins with his apps (He’s in at Buffalo, Indiana U, and Boston right now ) Dr Collins seemed to really like me so maybe we’ll end up at UC together!
  16. Rip. Those are my POIs. KE called me last time for the interview request. Hoping that decisions haven't all been sent out yet. Thanks for the update
  17. Hope so! Hope we both hear back
  18. Do you happen to know which POI? UW-Wisconsin is my top choice and I haven’t heard back yet. I received a phone call last time for an interview so I’m hoping to get a call soon. Crossing my fingers.
  19. I’m sorry to hear that! Hope you get interviews with other programs you are applying to.
  20. Were you at the interview day last week? I haven’t heard back yet for PhD not sure which you were applying for (or at least I haven’t got an email) Best of luck on your other apps.
  21. Just wanted to chime in on this for those thinking about next year already. Treating mental health disorders and practicing within the realm of applied clinical or health psychology isn't just limited to Clinical Psychology PhDs. There are so many tracks depending on your interests and while a Clinical Psychology PhD may in fact be the right option for you based on fit, career interests or flexibility it isn't for everyone. There are shortages in each mental health profession and if individuals switched paths to something more suited to them (if they weren't interested in research for example) it might cut down on the applicants to clinical psych PhD programs. I would check out this article Mitch’s Uncensored Advice for Applying to Graduate School in Clinical Psychology for more information on backup plans and alternative career paths that are not clinical psych. My fiancé wanted to work as a mental health therapist for children and realized through a soul search that he did not need to get a clinical PhD and could get a masters in school social work to practice with kids. Best of luck to everyone! I can't imagine how my life would look if I were applying to clinical programs. Sending love from School Psychology and hope everyone finds a home!
  22. I wouldn't worry too much about meeting with only 1 professor for a one-on-one interview. When I interviewed with Buffalo last Saturday,, they had me interview 1:1 with the department chair (not a POI) and my top POI out of the two I mentioned. I think they are just trying to match you to your preferred (out of multiple people you mentioned) POI or one that would make the most sense. The secondary professor at Buffalo I mentioned is a full professor and very well known in the school psych field and may be why I didnt land an interview. Hope you hear back soon with an acceptance!
  23. I would recommend waiting it out. You never know
  24. 2 of them they had alternative days for. Ohio state and Indiana I had to send my availability and find times to meet with the POI and other students or faculty I was supposed to interview with.
  25. I’ve had to reschedule 4 interviews (Indiana, Buffalo, U of Cincinnati and Ohio State) because all of them were scheduled on the 22nd and I already was interviewing on that day. i was able to reschedule all of them and was told by each program that it happens every year and won’t have an impact on decisions.
