Anyone heard from Calgary? They said interviews will be the week of the 17th so I'm presuming any day now they're sending out invites! -

This is my second cycle, I absolutely felt that way last year. Two things: 1.) it's still the first week back from winter break, most schools are just sending invites now and probably will for the next couple of weeks - some not even till February, and 2.) it's super common things don't work out for the first cycle! Knock on wood that you're successful this time, but if they don't work out, please do not take that as a sign of incompetence and just know it's SO so common. I had to wrestle those feelings last year and I know it's easier said than done! Edit: third thing - I know with Omicron spreading so fast some schools have extended their winter breaks so perhaps this has delayed some emails being sent! -

Bro I KNOW omg it's stressing me out... the forum + the results page isn't nearly as active as it was last year hahaha. I've noticed this thread has really picked up in activity this week though, understandably so! -

I feel that ? as for interview tips, I've been prepping for the one I've got so far by asking around in my network for people who have gone through the process. I've DM'ed a few people in the 2020 Counselling Psychology Canada thread who posted that they interviewed at the same school, and my friend has a friend currently in the program and she introduced me to them so they could share their tips! I find this the most useful because schools might take a unique approach to their interviews - it may be more casual, they may be looking for something specific, they may focus more on interpersonal questions as opposed to professional questions, etc. -

Ohhhh makes sense. Maybe some people were confusing OISE with UTSC - U of T technically has like 4 psychotherapy/counselling/clinical programs, 2 of which are clinical programs (one at OISE and one at UTSC) researching and comparing programs at U of T was a nightmare hahahaha -
When it doubt I would err on the side of overdressed. I would just dress how you normally would for an in-person job interview. You probably can't go wrong with either, but if you feel more professional/confident with the blazer, then wear it! Make sure your bottom matches your top in terms of professionalism though. I've heard many a horror story where people dress professionally for interviews up top, and if they stand up while forgetting that their camera is still on, they reveal sweatpants, pajama pants, or worse... nothing at all

Isn't Athabasca's deadline not till February? Or do they do rolling admission? -

I had one for a counselling psychology program back in October. The professor met with a select number of students who sent her inquiry emails, as the program itself does not host formal interviews. It felt way more relaxed compared to a formal interview. She was my professor a couple of years ago, so that helped some of the anxiety as we were familiar with each other, and the first bit was kinda just "catching up" between us. Then she asked me about why I am interested in psychology, why I want to do my thesis with her specifically, and asked me to explain the rationale for the specific idea I proposed in my email to her and why it's theoretically pertinent to her research. She then asked me about my career aspirations and gave me some application tips. In turn, I asked her questions about what supervision with her is like, what her expectations are in terms of pubs/presentations and funding, and how involved she is with her students' theses. -

Also - McGill's Project-Based MA is undergoing the first review, I was contacted about an issue with my transcript which has since been resolved and I was informed that they are completing the initial reviews of applications - wondering if this means we will start to hear about interviews in January? -

Yes, I applied to the MEd! I have no idea if they do interview invites at the same time, or if the MC even interviews? I would still hold out hope! -

Depends on the school. February-March is usually a fair time to expect them (Feb if the interviews are in Jan, and March if the interviews are in Feb, but again this is just an estimate) -

I hate the Queen's application for this reason. I feel like it doesn't fully represent me as an applicant. I found it so hard to list my research experience - I put it under employment but boy is it ever disorganized. -

Professional over personal is always the safest way to go. Unless your family circumstances are especially pertinent to why you want to study in their program, I wouldn't mention it at all. Maybe it could help be a good argument for why you want their MC program as opposed to the M.Ed (I applied to the latter, so I know how the MC is different!) -

Yup me too! I found it odd that there were just those questions and no SOI, yet I also kinda liked it because it guided the specific detail you should discuss? It felt like a broken down SOI! -

Not necessarily. On one hand, schools like to see you've at least applied, but on the other hand, grad schools make their admissions decisions before the CGS-M results are posted, so they have no way of actually factoring holding a CGS-M or not into their decision making process! -

No worries I tried to describe each of the top three responsibilities in one or two sentences on each line. So I did go a little more in-depth than my CV would for some of them, but I didn't write like an entire paragraph for each. IDK though. I really don't know what it is they want! -

Since they don't want you to submit an actual personal CV I literally just copy-pasted the three most "impressive" tasks/accomplishments I have/had from my actual CV for each of my jobs I'm putting there. I dunno if that's the correct approach but I also don't see why else I wouldn't. As for your SOP question, is that perhaps a sign your SOP is too much of a rehash of your CV? Your SOP and CV will inevitably have some overlap but you also don't want to be just merely listing your CV and then being like "this makes me a strong applicant because...". List a few key skills from your CV, but focus instead on what overall you've learned from those experiences, how it has prepared you for graduate training, why this influenced your career goals, etc! -

Hey guys, did the deadline for OGS for Fall 2022 programs pass already? I see the most recent deadlines published were in March 2021, but that's for the 2021-2022 OGS scholarships which I assume does not apply to us?
