  1. Y'all know that "it's been 84 years" gif from the Titanic? That's how I feel waiting to hear back from McGill lol
  2. I'm looking to be a psychologist, regardless of it's a clinical or counselling one (they are very similar, albeit somewhat different). I didn't apply to OISE, and I am hoping to complete doctoral programs nonetheless. Also, like Edge98 said, depending on the province you can work as a psychologist at the master's level.
  3. If it helps I totally relate to the doubt too. I still have yet to hear back from one more school but I don't have too high hopes. I'm constantly asking myself if so much school is worth it, if I would even make a good psychologist, if I would get bored of the job after a while, etc, etc. I even began considering other programs like SW or OT and completely abandoning the path of clinical/counselling psych altogether. I don't have much advice because I'm currently feeling so low about all of the doubt but I just wanted to say you're not alone and I completely get it. ❤️
  4. McGill applicants - if you used the communication tool in uApply, do you get an email when you've received a response or do you need to keep checking the portal? I asked a question and I log into uApply like 5 times a day to check but if I'm just going to get an email notifying me they answered I might as well stop lol
  5. I'm currently a U of A student and that was the case for our fall/winter courses but things switched to remote. I think that's in the event they do decide to go forward with in person classes but of course there is no guarantee
  6. They ended up sending me another one with my name on it.... so weird haha
  7. So I got a rejection from Dal...... except it's addressed to the wrong person.......... yet it has my mailing address on it................................ HUH??
  8. One of my profs' honors students got an NSERC to a school and didn't get in. My prof was furious so he called up the school asking what the problem was, and they admitted that they didn't account for the NSERC and they gave the student admission. Granted this was for experimental psych, not clinical, but still, these things can happen!
  9. Yeah, that is super early. Honestly U of L probably did that in light of Alberta's current ban on indoor gatherings (with few exceptions). Kind of odd that U of L decided so fast meanwhile U of A is still waiting and they're a much larger school...
  10. That heavily depends on the school I think. One of my profs this morning mentioned that UBC is looking to be fully in-person this September. U of A is still holding out until April to make a decision. I read McGill's website out of curiosity and it looks like they're trying to push for mostly in-person with the large lecture hall classes still being remote. Given that all the provinces seem to be at different paces in regards to vaccine distribution, the fact that it varies so much between schools and lots of it is still up in the air isn't surprising to me.
  11. It couldn't hurt! If you are emailing I would email ASAP though because now is around the time decisions start to come out for schools in general!
  12. I see, good point. I suppose it depends then on what your personal goals are in terms of registration, licensing, and scope of practice.
  13. The other thing I would be cautious about with Yorkville/Athabasca is that those are not CPA-accredited programs!
  14. Going stir crazy to hear about the last program I have hope in. I check the admissions portal probably like 5x a day, constantly refreshing my email, checking the results page like 5x a day as well, and overall am getting so jittery and find it hard to focus. I am also so anxious that my body just feels so sluggish and drained. And I know, self care, make sure you're getting sleep, eating, drinking water, exercising, bla bla bla. I am TRYING to, but holy crap is it hard. And such efforts seem futile right now; I truly don't think I'll go back to normal until I hear the results. Not to mention I'm especially stressed because if I don't get in, it means looking for a job, and the job market is quite dismal these days. I also just feel like I worked my butt off during undergrad to get the right research experience, grades, practical experience, etc and so far it hasn't been seeing to pay off this cycle. Feeling very disheartened and anxious, so if anyone else feels this way you're definitely not alone ?
  15. That's what I heard too! Wouldn't be surprised if they are late due to COVID as I see in this thread + the Clinical thread that that's been the case for many programs.
  16. Has anyone who applied to McGill gotten that "recommendation for admission" email that they supposedly send a few days before the official acceptance letter comes? According to the results page this is around the time they start to send them!
  17. Interviews are apparently not required this year, however you do still need to list specific supervisor(s) in your application. I listed mine in the 250-word research statement you gotta include as a part of the Project stream application
  18. Can the person who got accepted to the Project stream at McGill contact me with POI details? I never interviewed but that whole "interviews are not required for 2020" thing is tripping me up... I have a unique POI situation though (someone from external faculty + internal faculty to co-supervise) so I'm wondering if that impacted my application in any way... ahhh I'm so stressed lol
  19. Officially rejected from UBC #bigthings #success #workhardplayhard ???
  20. Got an official rejection from the PI I applied to at Queen's, it was such a kind email though I'm literally not even mad :')
  21. Yeah it seems reasonable to reach out to the place I worked to see what their availability is like now! I'm wondering if I should actually apply for some of the postings on LinkedIn I'm seeing now. I feel like that might be too early, especially since I haven't actually heard an official verdict from any schools yet (not to mention one of my programs doesn't interview so there's still a chance I may get admitted), but I'm also of the early bird gets the worm mentality so idk haha
  22. For those of you where things aren't looking too hot this year in terms of admissions, when are you planning on inquiring about jobs? I was encouraged by a place I did an internship at to reach out for jobs in case grad school plans don't work out post-graduation (it's a rehab clinic and I did biofeedback and psychoed groups with the clients; if I returned I'd be working as a psychometrist), however I've been getting LinkedIn notifications for jobs and I've found some other really good positions that I qualify for. I was planning on beginning to actually send inquiries in about mid-March or so... is that still too early? I just don't want to be lounging about unemployed for too long after graduation, I fear I'll slip into post-grad depression if I do haha.
  23. Edit: never mind I saw the previous comments, ignore this haha
  24. Anyone from Ryerson heard from CM lol? Edit: never mind someone posted she sent out invites on the results page, PAIN
