  1. Glad your wait -- and corresponding anxiety -- is over for the cycle! Congratulations on your admit and waitlist. I am STILL waiting for UCR. I sent an email to the graduate coordinator and was told that they are anticipating decisions to be released from "now through May" -- wow! I have applied to UCR in the past and heard back from them by March. I got rejected from my two other schools, UCLA and UCI, by mid-February. I find it strange that some UCs seem to be on their usual decision schedule and others are extremely delayed. This wait has been excruciating for UCR, but I have no other choice. It's also my top choice out of all three options so, I shall continue to wait. . .
  2. This thread is awfully quiet. Is anyone still experiencing radio silence from their programs? I'm going on fifteen weeks with no communication from UCR. Deciding whether or not I want to reach out to them at this point. It's nearly April with no updates.
  3. Thank you kindly for your response; I deeply appreciate it! I do not have a close relationship with my POI. I've only chatted with them for 40 minutes over Zoom during the summer to see if I was a good fit for them. Thus, I'd be reaching out to the grad program coordinator who, in the past, has been vague in their answers over email. They do have a phone number on their department profile, but I think that's a little too intrusive. I still haven't heard from them, and it's been nearly two weeks after the person I've been chatting with on GC got their decision. I think if I don't hear from them by the end of this week I'll get in touch. Thanks!!
  4. Hi everyone! I've been keeping in contact with a super awesome individual through GradCafe who applied to one of the same programs I did. Last Thursday, they informed me that they got an acceptance for this program, but I still have not heard a peep nearly a week later. Now, I understand that this might be because their POI is brand new to campus and they are just starting to build their mentee list and were able to devote more time/energy to pushing the decision through, or perhaps that decision was in the first batch of decisions that went out. However, I didn't see any further updates on Reddit or GC about this program and I know I've seen others mention that they applied to this program, too. I'm airing on the side that hardly anyone has heard back from this program still. This is my second time applying to this program, and last cycle (Fall 2021), they rejected me on March 3rd. It's a UC, so it may take them a bit more time than before because they're having to flesh out the fellowship amounts due to the UC-wide strike. Should I reach out to them by Friday morning if I haven't heard back? Or should I just let it go and only contact them if it's getting close to April with no update? I just find it very odd that it's been a week since the person I keep in contact with has had their decision and it's still crickets for me. It's the last school I'm waiting for.
  5. You'll be hearing from them very soon, then! This is usually how the portal changes right before you get a decision pushed through. Not relate to your post, but to other posters: I got my rejection from UCI around noon today, too. At least that's over and done with even though all of us who hadn't gotten an interview already knew the outcome of that. . .lol! Waiting for one more decision. . .
  6. Hi there! This forum is specific to the Education section of GradCafe, so none of us will likely know any updates about the programs you're inquiring about. If you go to Forums -> Scroll all the way down to "The Menu" subsection -> Click on "Biology" under the Life Sciences forums, you'll have better luck asking there! Good luck! Hope you get into your dream program!
  7. Got a nice big fat rejection from UCLA's HEOC program this morning. Far from unexpected, but that was my second choice school. Still have not heard back from UCI (and I doubt when I do it'll be good news, seeing as I haven't had the mandatory interview). PULL THROUGH, UCR! It's my #1 choice school, but someone on the forums notified me that they got in touch with the program and they state they won't be releasing decisions until March or April. . .omg. It's deliberate torture, I swear! How's everyone else fairing since our last check-in?
  8. Huh. . .well that doesn't sound very professional to admit to a potential student that their admittance is determinant upon how much THEY can help in her research lol! I'm glad you have some options because that potential POI at UCI sounds. . .interesting to say the least. Maybe you dodged a bullet. And, same here. UCI is actually my last choice this round and I have very little hope of getting in. Can't say I'll be too incredibly hurt by it. Just send it already lol.
  9. Apparently, UCI only accepts individuals who have had an interview with them. I didn't see too many people on GradCafe reporting that they got interviews, but it's been total silence since those last few updates a few weeks ago, you're right. However, they do rolling admissions and they keep the application open until Feb 1st. According to their website, they claim that all decisions will be sent out by April 15th. Wtf? So those of us who applied by/before December 1st have to wait 4.5 months to get a decision, even though we can already imply that we've been rejected because we didn't get an interview? Lollll I mean, there's still a chance for them to conduct more interviews. But their whole process is nonsensical to me compared to other UCs.
  10. Most definitely! Please keep us updated. I applied to a few of the same Ph.D. programs that you did. I'm unsure if we applied to the same concentrations, but it's nice to have some common schools and departments with other people so you don't feel like you're swimming out at sea on your own without a floatie.
  11. Yay, yay, yay! An admit? AND on a Saturday morning?! We love to see it! Congratulations! That is wonderful news! Regarding what you should do next: Take maybe a day or two and relax before responding to that email so your excitement doesn't jump out at your POI. At least, that's what I do but I'm very prone to over-use of exclamation points in general. What can I say? I'm a high-energy person. I would respond back and thank them for reaching out to you and let them know that you are looking forward to attending their Admit Day! I suspect that we will hear back from most UCs next week and early the following week. UCR is usually one of the last of the UCs to send out their decisions from what I've seen and from my experience from last application cycle. I heard back from them around March 3rd in 2019.
  12. Hey y'all! Waiting really IS the hardest part, isn't it? Luckily, we should be hearing back from these programs very soon! Sending good vibes to everyone. I applied to Ph.D. programs at UCI, UCLA, and UCR and haven't heard back from a single program yet. This is my second round of applications and I recall I heard back from UCR around March 3rd during the Fall 2021 cycle. For UCLA, it was something like Feb 9th. This is my first time applying to UCI, but I would assume that those results will be in close to when UCLA releases theirs since they have the same deadline.
  13. I know that as far as Ph.D. programs for Education, they start sending out letters between March and May. M.A.s tend to be on a rolling schedule. I just heard back from Claremont a few days ago, so it's not uncommon to still be waiting for some institutions. I know UCs and CSUs do their invites later. Hopefully this is helpful for you.
  14. Nope, but applied to UCLA's Ph.D. in HEOC and got denied two days ago. I didn't get an e-mail until late in the day, but I had checked my portal around 1 PM PST and saw I had an official decision. And it was a rejection. I'd say if you haven't heard by the end of next week to e-mail them. Good luck!
