  1. Thank you for saying that. I've realized that once you want something enough, it becomes much easier to make the time for it. I get up at 5am each morning so that I can get a few hours of writing in before my son gets up. I'm not a morning person, so it was difficult at first. But now it's my favorite time of day.
  2. Welcome! Great job finishing those apps! I'm one of those who obsessively polishes each sample/sop until the last possible moment. I really should just let it go and be done with them already. I'm 37 ? with a husband and a kiddo. I just closed my business of 12 years, so I finally have some time to dedicate to writing.
  3. Of course. Being a writer is HARD. It's one of the most self-exposing things you can do--full of rejection and lonely struggling. We gotta be there for each other when we can.
  4. Regardless of what you did or didn’t realize, an apology is in order.
  5. I do the same thing. I wish I could also include the current story name in the header, but Scrivener can't seem to do that.
  6. Seems kind of silly, though, for me to be quibbling over these details when the chances of even getting in are so small.
  7. Yeah, I should prob consider Maryland. The teaching load is okay. I think it's 1/1-1/2-2/2 Just not sure how I'd do teaching 2 classes in a semester.
  8. I’ve heard Baltimore is a really cool city but also that the schools are not great (I have a kiddo).
  9. Dang. How did I not hear that about Pitt? I have qualms about all of them, really. Cornell: high app fee. Syracuse: higher teaching load. Johns Hopkins: Baltimore.
  10. I'm thinking about: Johns Hopkins, Syracuse, Cornell, or Pittsburgh All long shots, I know. I'm trying to just pick one. Opinions?
  11. Just wanted to introduce myself! It’ll be nice to have a place to commiserate over the next few months. I’m applying to Michener, UT-A NWP, UVA, Iowa WW, Purdue, Indiana, Hollins, Vanderbilt, Michigan, and U of Florida. But prob ditching Purdue for another school that doesn’t require a critical writing sample. I’m 14 yrs out of undergrad, so I would have to produce something in the next 3 weeks.
