  1. First year Classics PhD candidate here, and I thought of another tip for the interviews, if it can help. Definitely seem generally passionate, but it really helps to have a research project thought up, so you can show that you know what the end goal of the program is. You can also show how your past interests tie into your future interests this way. Personally, it also gave me a lot more confidence going into the interview, since I knew what I was about. They ended up asking me this exact question: "If you were to start your thesis right now, what would it be about?" I'm so glad that I was ready. Anyway, good luck to all of you applying this cycle!
  2. Hey there! I would suggest not doing the GRE if it is optional. It was by far the worst part of applications for me last year. It took me 2 full months of studying in order to get a good score and it was all very stressful and completely unrelated to Classics. In the end, the school I was admitted to didn't look at the scores at all. Only do it if you are applying to schools where it is mandatory. As for contacting POIs, it can be quite frustrating. Make sure you write messages which are polite and where you mention their work in relation to your future research. They need to witness a genuine interest in working with them on your part. Also, they are all very busy, so don't take it too personally if they don't respond. Good luck! ?
  3. Hi, I was admitted two weeks ago, interviews were a week before that. Sorry you didn't get any news ?
  4. Just got an informal email from a potential advisor at NYU saying that I got in! Official response should arrive in the coming week. Ahhhh, I'm so excited! A special thanks to everyone who contributes to this forum, you made the experience of applying and waiting for responses much more bearable! Hope I get to meet some of you in academia down the line
  5. Thank you, I hope you do too!!
  6. Hey, just wanted to update you all that I received an email this morning for an interview with NYU on Thursday. I had received no other responses before this, so I am ecstatic to say the least!
  7. Applied to both, and haven't heard anything yet. There hasn't been any news on the results board either, which is pretty surprising for Yale especially.
  8. @PeppermintTea Congratulations!! Toronto is an awesome city as well!
